I visited this distillery a few weeks ago specifically based on what I'd heard from others who'd been there and I wasn't disappointed. The magnificent Susan showed us around in her role as Tourguide and then introduced us to several different expressions made there. It was at this point I had to leave in order to get my taxi to the train station so I could go off and visit another distillery in the afternoon so I really appreciated that Susan's colleagues had carefully bubble wrapped some sample bottles for me to take away with me and do my sampling later. I also appreciated their warmth, hospitality and the fact that staff let me stow my suitcase rather than having to lug it around with me on the tour route. Well worth a visit if you're in the area - or even make a special trip to the area just to see it like I did. My 'wow-moment' was seeing their very unconventional still with the 'modified' top and hearing the story behind this. I've visited plenty of distilleries but I've never seen another still like...

A Must-Do on the NC500 – Fantastic Tour at Old Pulteney Distillery!

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Old Pulteney Distillery in Wick—easily one of the highlights of our North Coast 500 trip. The tour was brilliant from start to finish. Our guide, Alan, was fantastic—great fun, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the whole whisky-making process so easy to understand, even for beginners. He shared some brilliant stories from his childhood growing up near the distillery, which made the whole experience feel really personal and memorable. The tour ended with a whisky tasting that was the perfect finish to the visit. We learned so much and had such a great time—couldn’t recommend it more highly. If you’re anywhere near Wick, this is an...

Fabulous team! Alan is a 5* host, he and Daniel are extremely knowledgeable and glad to share that knowledge. They were absolutely on it with wheelchair accessibility for mum. We had noticed a step to the entrance, however they have an accessible entrance which they were pleased to assist us in accessing the store via. They also have an accessible toilet in case you need it. We brought home a Whiskey that can only be purchased on site, and mum thoroughly enjoyed learning about the differences in the Whiskey's they produce. We also picked up a bottle of Caorunn Scottish Raspberry Gin while we were there, the selection of gifts and branded items was lovely. Especially the unique pin badges. Thank you...

This was my first distillery tour, and it was much more fun that I had expected from such thing. The visitor centre is very cosy and the entire distillery in good shape, and our guide was super friendly, knowledgeable and fitting the role - you learn essential bits of the history of the place, the process, the people who work there. The tour is designed to be interesting for both total amateurs and experienced distillery tourers (we had both types in our group and all were happy). Both the whisky and the tour are recommended hands down.

I’ve toured a few of the bigger distilleries and this is the best so far, Ricky our guide was never in a hurry, was jovial and full of facts, obviously knew what he was talking about. I liked that we came on a day when a lot was happening in the distillery and we got to stay and watch, we were never rushed. The tasting afterwards was good, a lovely room and we got two drinks but you can pay more and get more samples, though in the shop you can try before you buy, it’s not cheap but I have a new favourite whisky.

Very very good tour. Highly recommend going to see . The staff are really friendly and during the tour have a little laugh and are witty . Was very impressed with the girl's knowledge on the making of the Old Pulteney and the whole process. Been to a few other distilleries and were very interesting but missed the fun . Would highly recommend trying the Stroma liqueur, this is an amazing wee tipple . Well worth the visit . 10 out of 10 and thanks to the tour guides for a great tour.
