Not much of it is left unfortunately. But a good walk around. Only an arch remains. But the story goes the maker of the castle made it in one night. From when the stars were around to the next night. So the name starlight castle.

Great walks around here but if your looking for a castle like the kids were, it doesn't exist! Only the remains of a doorway left.

An impressive old castle dating back many years buried deep in the woodlands of Seaton sluice 😁

We didn't actually find the castle but i decided to write a little review for Seaton Burn which is the walkable area around here.

I used to live in Seaton Sluice so this was just down the road from me. Really nice to visit it again after so many years.

Parking up at the Melton Constable (couple of EV parking spots there too BTW) we took a walk down to the stream and followed the path. Really nice walk with lots of greenery.

follow the path along and it'll come to Starlight Castle.. shortly after that there's a large black pipe runs across the stream... Cross the little bridge and you can walk back again easily on the other side of the stream. Walk under the overpass for the cars cross the stream where the boats are parked and your about 100 metres from the dunes and the sea.

It is probably about 5-6000 steps and approx 4km distance so not super strenuous. 👍 Definitely recommend it for a nice...

These ruins are lore unique due to the fact the bloke (and his village) who built it done it over a drunken bet that it could be built in a day - and he only achieved it! Definitely worth a visit if you're in Holywell Dene; just be wary that it's at the top of a very steep hill but once you're there it's worth it.

A side note: Continue further up the path and over the stile and you'll come to an amazing area with bright bushes either side that's an unbelievable sun trap in...

Starlight Castle is little more than two walls and the foundations, but the story behind it is impressive. The Castle was built by Sir Francis Delaval back in 1750, after accepting a bet that he could not build a home for a lady friend in one day. From midnight to midnight the home was built and he won the bet. Starlight Castle was occupied well into the...
