We had walked along the seafront from South Beach, Blyth with our dogs, had a drink in the Kings Arms, Seaton and were about to head back along the coastal path when we noticed lots of people going in to the Harbour View fish n chip shop and coming out with bags/boxes of food. We decided to join the queue. SO glad that we did. The larger cod was dipped in batter & fried to order. They had to break it to fit in the box. We found a lovely place to sit by the estuary to enjoy our feast...it really was delicious. The fish cooked to perfection and the best we have had in a very long time. The chips were also first class. The whole experience was a delight. The cooks were well organised, the two serving staff were very friendly & efficient, the food was delicious and the price was affordable. Great value for money. We'll definitely be going back....soon!

Superb fish and chips. Called in for a lunchtime treat as I'd heard the fish and chips here were something else, and I hadn't been here for many years. I wanted haddock and chips and was given the choice of large or small. Small didn't sound too good so I opted for large. Little did I know what I was in for! They didn't have a 'large' haddock so gave me two instead but even they would have happily passed for large anywhere else, and one of them had to have it's own box! One will have to go in the freezer for another time. I ate the other and the chips on the grassy bank in the nearby harbour and they were superb. Nice crispy dry, but not too dry chips and the fish was beautiful, Perfectly cooked in thin crispy batter, the flesh was bright white, firm and very tasty. It's not the cheapest but quality like this has to be paid for. Epic.

Visited this for its ranking as the top chippie on Northumberland. Comparing it with other well-rated ones (especially the Harbour Fish Bar), the cod here is thicker and tastes better. It's also £2 more for their large cod than the previously mentioned place, so you're paying for the quality of the piece. Batter is crispy but prone to getting soggy (I needed to split it quickly cos the side that faces down was getting soft). On the upside, one doesn't sense any of the greasiness that usually remains on your tongue with fish and chips, so it feels like a very healthy option and one I would definitely revisit.

Live in Whitley Bay and have a fair choice of chippys and takeaways nearby. Had been going for takeaways at Harbour View since around 2021 and used to enjoy the service and value so made the trip up at least once a month ..up until late 2024. Around then (takeover?) their prices skyrocketed and they would rarely have any 'regular haddock' available for whatever reasons. (I'd also wager that the fish is not wholly fresh but frozen - given the dense and rather dry texture - as opposed to flaky and moist.)

All things considered, it became bit of an expensive 'chore' to travel there so stopped going because of this and the rather hit/miss cheeriness of some of the serving staff.

I noticed they had recently actively changed their business opening times on Google to state they were open 11-4pm weekdays (as of 23 Oct 2025). (Prior to this their opening hours stated they were closed from 2-4pm weekdays.) With travelling nearby and willing to give them another go (Friday 23 Oct) I went along at 2:30pm ..to find the whole place closed. Great.

Was good in it's day and worth the trip but not...
