My wife and I had been advised by a party of ladies that the food here was excellent. So, 3 years later, we had the opportunity to visit. We booked a table for four, conservatory was fully booked but we had an excellent corner table in the lounge.. The online menu offers many varied dishes, I struggled to narrow my likely choice down to seven mains! Upon arrival, a warm welcome, description of how we ordered items, and mention of the Daily Specials board. I chose from the specials, liver & onion, it was excellent. The other 3 adults chose Steak & Ale pie, mince and dumpling, and corned beef & potato pie. A good selection of fresh vegetables and potatoes or chips. Surprisingly, no choice of mashed potato which is ideal for mopping up onion gravy. Nobody could manage a dessert, but in the interests of future diners, I tried, and finished the jam roly-poly with custard. Thankfully not a suet base but a dense sponge, took me back to my school days. Delicious! We also had drinks from the bar, and tea or coffee to finish. In summary, a very good lunch, well cooked with quality ingredients, some very attractive cask ales are available, and reasonably priced. My thanks to the ladies who advised me to dine here, and my thanks to all members of...

My running partner and I had parked up by this joint pre-exercise. A young charva styled gentleman appeared outside the pub clutching his plastic cannister of beer which was clearly not house provided, nor designed as a specific beer holding device, and strolled his way down the road in glee to undertake sensible ale consumption elsewhere. Post exercise our chops were dried heavily by the sea air. Several plastic cannisters of beer materialised in this approximate location, but indeed not actually consumed in the bar we had noticed and had parked outside...

Many years ago and.before we went abroad, we came to the Melton Constable regularly. Now that we are home again we are so pleased to be back where we feel we belong. The atmosphere is happy and we found the staff to be cheerful and very helpful.
The food is lovely and tastes as it should, with rich flavours and many excellent comments given by those eating around us.
So thanks to The Melton Constable, we can eat the food we enjoy whenever we ...
