It is a nice 2.5 miles walk through the parks and woodlands at Porter Brook Valley. Start at Endcliff Park and head westward taking in Bingham Park and Whiteley Wood before you reach Forge Dam.
The garden area at the front of Forge Dam is pleasant and there is a children's playground and cafe. Separate public toilet facilities are available (make sure you have anti-bacteria wipes with you because the toilets are not always clean).
The reservoir is not as good as it was 25 years ago! In those days it was a large pool of clear water.
