Cleadon Hills is a lovely place to go for a walk, made even more special by the presence of the Oxmoor ponies. The Oxmoor ponies are regularly housed on Cleadon Hills for grazing but are not there all year around. Regardless, Cleadon Hills offers lovely countryside and farmland terrain with some spectacular views of Sunderland and South Tyneside. It is also home to the famous Cleadon Windmill and Cleadon...

The windmill is not quite as impressive from the round walk from Whitburn along to Marsden Grotto and back along the coast to Whitburn. The walk is well signposted and has extremely impressive views and you can see as far as the Cheviot Hills to the Cleveland Hills and miles of coastline. Lovely old ruined windmill on the high point of the Cleadon Hills Great views of the surrounding areas Although the entrance is locked, there are plenty of routes around the area Park near the water tower, great for families and dog walkers, just be aware the field sometimes has horses within the field.
