The Haughton Dale Nature Reserve is between and by the Peak Forest Canal, the River Tame, and the edge of Haughton Green. People can enter freely at any time but be aware that much of the area is woodland and undergrowth. It is unlit and open to the elements. Some areas are very steep and/or slippery. A great place for spotting fungi as well as trees. Younger children should be supervised.
