Steep. Very very steep. Great day out though. Use the Land Rover to get back up or walk the road behind the high street as it’s much easier than walking back up the high street itself. Avoid the town when wet/raining as the walk is super slippy. The path is made from sea stone and is very smooth. A visit will cost £8.25 for a double visit per person (You can visit twice within 7 days) or £2.50 just for parking. You don’t need to pay the £8.25 to walk the high street, but is “suggested” you have to pay. £8.25 includes the parking, lovely garden to access and a movie to watch. Plenty of pubs, shops and places to eat.

Clovelly High Street is historic and meandering picturesque village situated near its harbour. It is steep to walk through but it is worthwhile to do so. Many of its buildings are architecturally listed, which adds the ambiance and atmosphere of the high street. There is no vehicular access down the high street and a car park is situated at the top of the village. There is a entrance fee to access the village paid at the visitor centre situated at the car park.

Well, this is a five star site, but gets only three because there is a £8.5 charge to enter the village. I have read some reviews that the £8.5 allow you to enter the cottages, and that the “walk” (steep downhill, not suitable for elderly or disabled people) along High Street is free. Obviously they don’t let you know that when you arrive at the Visitor Centre. Thanks God there is a Land Rover service at the harbour that takes you back to the parking for £3.5.
