its a small generic building that is going threw a lot of refurbishment. not recomended as it stands right now,id recomend going towards the trafford centre instead for a good time,or good shopping.

ive been going to stretford precinct since the late 80s with my family and i remember much better times like when the grand spiral staircase had aquariums built into the side of it,one of the tanks had terapins in and lots of tropical fish.

#i remember the santa claus castle was actualy a decent castle and you got a good present.

#i remember the little 'ice rink' they put near greggs at certain times of the year.

#i remember zodiac toys to as my sister got a pair of roller skates from them, she got bored of them quickly so i put them on and imediatly fell over and broke my arm, which started off another nostalgia trip-a visit to trafford general hospital when it was good.

#i remember the market hall which had both a pet shop stall, an irish butchers that sold everything from red lemonade to galtee cheese or the irish black or white pudding. there was tandys right near the kingfisher cafe (i remember the big fire there),and most importantly for me was a stall selling legit computer games. one of them i still have to this day and its worth hundreds in mint condition, it was a playstation 1 game called Wild Arms. i still play it to this day.

#i remember the 'all sports' store selling the old manchester storm and manchester giants jerseys back when both of them were homed at NYNEX arena.

#i remember john menzies-always going in there to buy commodore 64 games, i bought bart simpsons VS the space mutants for around a tenner, and i still have it in mint condition.

its so sad its all gone,i have so many memories of the old precinct, now...

Stretford Mall or "Stretford Precinct" as It used to be known was wonderful in it's hey day, but it's now I'm sorry to say, it is a dark shadow of what it was in the seventies. For me there seems to be various reasons for this, when it started with the original owners; P&O, then they sold the building to another enterprise. The first big shop to vacate the Mall over the years was Mothercare, a victim of its own success may be?. And again later still Woolworths which seemed to follow a similar financial dilemma, as Dixons, finally TJ hughes and Tescos then followed.there were many more businesses that disappeared over the years including the Mc'Donalds and Nat West Bank. There was speculation that it was hemorrhaging businesses because of rent increases. It's been well publicized that the Mall owners intend to build housing accommodation within the part which was once the Mall market area. This probably won't do anything to revitalise the shopping facilities, but maybe it'll provide a cash cow to finance it's plans for the future, who knows? That fact is with the Trafford Center and Tesco (Chester road ) luring shoppers away from The Mall, and online shopping becoming the trend, the future doesn't look great for the people living in Stretford without transport or access to the internet. I've long been an advocate of the saying "The Customer is King" or queen for...

The staff are friendly. Boots is the only decent shop. But i do feel the mall is a very good place to shop for a handy mall thers everything under one roof. And it will be a shame if the mall closed down altogether as it a local amd quite proude for it to be there still remaining. I would stress if the rents and rates came down drastically the mall would habe all the shops up and running. I feel the trading shops that are seprate from salons should be opened longer and let salons open as of when they want as those timings n bookings are different. However it would be nice if wilkinsons and b&barhain came back to the mall as we lost tesco after many years whuch was very handy for people who are ill and cant travel far. One thing i would do less the rents and rates and it give better oppertunity and maybe upgrade the refurbishments of the shops to how they want them to attract shoppers its good friendly mall and it needs to be saved. The gym is no use there as Argos used to also be there and that was realy bad to see it go. We need to keep the respect for the mall . I gave it 3 stars as it needs to be refurbished with new things and updated for free for the shops althoe it is still okay but the old run down look makes it feel run down a little lift to just renew the existing shops will want ppl to go in even more weather some shops have shut...

First shopping centre built in uk supposed to.be "protected" and yet left in utter dismay and 60% demolished. I miss the old fountains and fish tanks and clock tower and waterfall it used to have but most of all.. THE SHOPS! Its now a Dire place of empty shops as nobody can afford the rent and taxes making the building fall to disrepair and demolishing especially since tesco left. Used to be THE BEST place now its tatty shops. Even whsmith has now gone! Wish could go back in time as it had everything anyone could ever need. Now you have aldi... A cafe.. Bunch of tatty shops and maybe see about 3 to 6 people walking through and thats it. Used to be very busy! But nobody comes here anymore as 90% shops have closed down/moved out to where cheaper rent is. 99% of my friends now refuse to shop here as "theres nothing there".. Unless you want to see broken celing and shir down shops for the 600th time

As a born and bred Stretfordian, I can confirm this place used to be the best shopping centre in the area. However, times change and this place hasn’t quite kept up. But with regeneration on the horizon, the future is promising. It is still possible to obtain most items on the average shopping list here, with Heron Foods, Quality Save and Aldi being worthy retail options. Survivors such as the kingfisher chippy and Gola Gifts also make a trip worthwhile whilst newcomers such as the Food Hall, Reel Around the Fountain Records and the Half Price Outlets offer something a bit different.

More bland than grand, even after an expensive refurb. Still, you could easily get all your weekly shopping from this area, get your hair and nails done, have a coffee and a snack. As long as you can do all this within the allocated three hours, you will not suffer parking charges. It would be nice to see several outside market stalls to add an ambience of trading.
