Bit of a hidden gem, particularly on a warm summer’s day. Green entry to grounds and house. The grounds are beautiful a lots of paths to explore, bandstand, ‘grotto’, ice-house and so much more. All well kept but in a very natural way. The only exception to this is the pond which was sad to see - completely stagnant yet wouldn’t take much to sort out. The house itself has a really interesting history, although won’t take you long to get around. Didn’t try the cafe but have heard very good things. Main reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is the less than friendly welcome at the reception area.

I booked the louby lou's elf hunt experience for my two grandsons who are 7 and 5. They both loved it. We were asked to meet outside the main entrance of Bedwelty house. We were greeted by elf Jolly, who then handed us over to elf Jingle. All in all there was a group of around 20 children, plus adults. She then took us around the park looking for elf buddy. The story and costumes were great, they kept the children grasped and fully entertained. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone. I think the adults might have enjoyed it a bit more than the kids 😉

Local 'tourist' from only a few miles away (a Swansea lad). Nice gardens overall; reasonably well maintained. The ponds were not though - caked with algae and clearly haven't had any attention for years. Even the three ducks I saw looked sad. With that said, everything else looked fine - and it was a relaxing hour or so walk across the whole of the site. Plenty of photos taken which I will cherish. Apart from the pond photos of course, which I will probably delete.

The Sunday lunch was beautiful but service was slow, our meal was brought with the meat & roast potatoes but we were waiting a while for all the vegetables, and there was no plain potatoes or mash, not everyone likes roast potatoes so if your someone that doesn't you'll have no potatoes with your meal. Also I asked what was on the cheesecake and I was told that it had strawberries and raspberries, when it came it had one raspberry on it, when I told the girl who brought the desserts she said I can go and get you some strawberries, she came back with one strawberry cut in four,, but if there were strawberries why weren't they on the cheesecake in the first place very disappointing in that respect. Don't know if it would be my choice to...

I arranged to take 50 people to the cafe for lunch (we ended up with 47). I cannot praise the staff enough. We had a wonderful welcome and nothing, but nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a lovely lunch and I can thoroughly recommend the lasagne, it was delicious. The homemade corned beef pie also went down well with over half our number choosing that lunch. There was no desserts which was a shame, but the custard slices made up for that. Oh my, as one of our group said, they were to die for. Unfortunately we didn't have much time to go around the gardens, but I'm pretty sure we will be going back ....this time for a pre-booked cream tea. A huge thank you to all the staff, it was a pleasure to work with you in...
