A hidden gem. Amazing, just amazing. My wife and I came over from Bristol (England) to visit our very good friends (our Bruv and Sis) who have just moved to Rhymney. It was their 45th anniversary and we wanted to take them out for a special meal. Obviously coming from Bristol and having never been to Rhymney before we didn't know of any restaurants in the area, so we reverted to trying to find somewhere on line. A number of establishments popped up, the Tamarind Restaurant being one of them. My wife and I decided, after reading the reviews, that the Tamarind Restaurant was the one for us. We were not disappointed. I rang them to book a table. The woman who answered the phone was very polite, cheerful and helpful, which immediately gave us a feeling of satisfaction, a feeling of we've picked the right place. We picked our friends up and put the postcode for the Tamarind Restaurant (NP22 3NF) in the satnav. We arrived to be gretted at the door by a smiling face and was shown to our table. The manager then came over to greet us, which made us feel that we were someone of importance. This Restaurant had just won awards for excellence and the manager was so proud showing us the award and the trophy they had worked hard to achieve. You could see and taste the reason why they had won the award. Simply... Excellent food served by excellent staff. When we visit our friends again we will definitely be going back to one of the best Restaurants we have ever been to. Thank you so much for making our evening so special. Hope to see you again in the...
Read moreHaving eaten there before and being served by the same waiter who was rude and abrupt. to my friends and I. It was a very busy night so we made allowances and returned last night,Wednesday. The same waiter took our order and was pleasant. I pointed at the Menu and ordered a Vegatarian starter,to share. When it arrived my guest pointed out to me that one of the starters was Chicken. He cut it and it was. I called back the waiter and he raised his voice and said,it was what I had oedered. I explained that I had pointed to the Vegatarian selection. My.guest confirmed what I had chosen. The waiter grabbed it from the table. At this moment I was ready to leave but my guest talked me round to stay as there was no other restaurant locally. Waiter returned with Vegatarian dish and attempted to make small chatt. The food was fab but the attitude of the waiter left a lot to be desired. When I attempted to pay my bill with my card I was told that the machine was not working. I had to find a cash machine in the street. I had phoned and .booked the table at 5.30 and wasn't informed about machine not working.. As this is the second time to be treated by an arrogant, rude waiter,my friends and I will not be revisiting this restaurant. Barmaid was charming. X The waiter that almost spoilt our evening is known as KHADIR. Rude...
Read moreThough the ambience is nice and the restaurant is good in size, they would treat you well only when the order is high. The staff just literally served the breads on the table with a force instead of gracefully placing them on the table . It is firstly a Balti/Bangladeshi restaurant and not an Indian restaurant! The food is pathetic as they serve old meat (chicken). It is flavored, colored and cooked with so much spices that only few can find out that the meat is old and smelly. When mentioned about this to the chef and the senior staff, they were very rude and neglected to take the feedback. They forcefully argued and claimed that it is good. Be very close to the food industry sector and from the place India itself, we were able to spot the color, taste, and rubbery texture and smell of the meat. The award that they showcase looks to so fake for the quality being served. Absolutely unprofessional staff and service. The food here is reheated several times and served! With the lack of largely seated Indian restaurants around, this restaurant stands out due to the ambience and the amount of flavor these use. But the quality is...
