The only beach in the area i am aware of that allows dogs all year (Most ban them May to Sep). A sandy beach curls around the bay for a good distance so the dogs can get a good run. Its a beautiful stretch enhanced by the sun when it actually makes an appearance. As a known dog friendly beach, most people who come here also have dogs so you don't need to keep them on a tight lead. My dogs got up close with a few families but, as fellow dog lovers, they happily gave them a fuss instead of making us feel bad like you get on some other beaches (Even out of season). The only downside to my visit this time was that there were a load of Jetski's tearing it back and forth which left a smell of petrol and disturbed the peace a bit - I've never had that before but I guess the council point them this way to be away from the main beaches. Well worth a visit with the dogs all...
Read moreHonestly…. Our family holiday completely ruined day 1 by a nasty dog walker. Whom let her dogs all over our picnic food/blankets jumping around the kids. They weren’t dangerous, just excitable. The owner is to blame. Instead of apologising and carrying on…. No she stood there on our stuff and decided to go down the foreigner route and remind us all we weren’t welcome. This was a dog walking beach and to leave. Well we didn’t. After the kids stop crying we carried on. The beach is lovely, stoney in places but picturesque. Yes seems a good place for dog walkers… but we did see families sat down enjoying some time in the sun. Could be one local person who has a problem with families on holiday. But I’ll take the traffic in...
Read moreTucked out of the way on the North East side of Porthcawl, just beyond the large caravan parks, Newton has sandy beaches interspersed with stone breakwaters and flood defences. Note that this can make access to the beach difficult when the tide is high. The beach backs on to dunes and you can really 'get away from it all' here. There is pay-and-display parking on rough ground behind the sea wall; but there is no shelter or any facilities here. In season it's a short walk into the caravan park, but even so, you're a fair way from any toilets. An ice cream van is usually present by the car park even out of season if the weather...
