For what I paid the caravan was scruffy and dated with only basic cleanliness. Looking at other reviews seems it's down to luck if you get the basic cleanliness, dread to think what the basic caravan is like! No plugs for any of the 3 sinks (great shaving using a glass cooking dish filled with water trying to balance it in the sink) tv didn't work properly on arrival due to a faulty aerial lead (my Dad fixed it himself) no shelf or cupboard in the tiny bathroom, so had to put toiletries on the floor! Shower cubicle separating from the wall, they'd tried to staple it to fix it(!) Broken slat on a bed, snapped half left under the bed, awful lumpy pillows/worn mattresses , no scissors, no teapot, no fridge light, poor central heating system, crap oven/hob, you can't see the gas mark settings as they've worn away...
Came here Monday to Monday 7 days expecting a quiet relaxing break (first week of November) Park was very busy and full of kids right up to secondary school age?! Expected that Friday to the Monday, but not Monday to the Friday too. October half term was the previous week, so was expecting a mixture of couples, older people/groups and people with pre school age kids, you know, people who choose to holiday on weeks when it's not school holidays/half term/bank holiday weeks.
Obviously too expensive for lot's in October half term, so take the kids out of school the following week, pay any school fines, job done! Parkdean run a full set of daytime activities every weekday for kids right up to teenage years. Why? It's term time ffs. Totally wrong and irresponsible, the activities should be for pre-school kids only.
About two thirds of the people on site were loud, thick chavs/chav families/chav groups of friends and families from South Wales with badly behaved kids that basically did what they liked (day and night) until the early hours. Living in the drug dealer and drug addict ridden lawless anti-social hell hole of Newport in South Wales I wanted to get away from the above for a week lol. Lot's would benefit from parenting classes tbh, maybe spend your money on that rather than fake designer sportswear and private number plates for your leased/motability bmws, audis, mercs etc...
Didn't bother with any takeaways, restaurants or entertainment as didn't want to pay £6.40 a pint, have expensive crap quality food or watch kid orientated shows where you have to queue up an hour beforehand to get a seat as it's too small for the people from the 2,000 or so caravans packed into this huge site. Used the co-operative food store (a 2 minute walk outside the main entrance) as the nisa shop on site is a complete rip off.
If you enjoy paying decent money for a scruffy dated caravan, not being able to fall asleep until midnight at the earliest each night, thick loud chavs everywhere smoking weed, having lot's of family and friends visiting, driving around site day and night as it's too much effort to walk anywhere, getting drunk, loud neighbours swearing lot's, overflowing bins/rubbish, rip off prices for everything and kids and dogs everywhere then you'll LOVE staying at Trecco Bay! I can't imagine what it must be like in the school summer holidays in hot sunny weather having experienced it way out of peak season in November. Must have hard working security and the police on speed dial to deal with all the anti-social behaviour probably.
Great beaches within walking distance though, as well as nice, normally priced respectable pubs (off site) also. Excellent location, loads of activities for kids to do (when they should be in school) just better off booking with haven though if you have standards and want a relaxing/quiet break and a better class of people.
Parkdean only care about profit, they don't care about bad reviews/bad holiday experiences (they cut and paste the same reply on trip advisor reviews to prove that) They've had your money so don't care if you have any problems or need anything for your caravan. Looking forward to not returning again soon and paying less with haven next time for a...
Read moreI visited Trecco bay in August 2024. It is a really big park with a lot of great facilities.
Pros: Plenty of places to eat. We went to the boat house, thunderbird fried chicken and the chippery and enjoyed our food at each of them. (fish quality at the chippery was poor. We did not order fish but saw first hand the quality and many people refused it). We also enjoyed plenty of scoops deserts!
Plenty of small children's rides to go on. 3 arcades, 2 in the main pavilion and one in the club house. Music and entertainment in the pavilion too. Enjoyable walk.
Plenty of activities - go ape type activity, bungee jumping, bookable pool activities, bouncy castle, sensory play for the little ones, arts and crafts, soft play, play and bounce. Plenty to choose from. There is also a play park and splash play at the back of park which is free to use
good entertainment, kept the kids happy had the children's music on at 5:15 for an hour and a half then it's normally bingo at 7pm then singing/an act afterwards.
Lovely sandy Beach at the back of the park.
the site was nice and clean, saw the life guards washing down the changing rooms throughout the day when I was there. Plenty of bins around, didn't see any rubbish. Well looked after site. (all the arcade machines worked!)
caravan - I stayed in the Clemenstone caravan. Plenty of storage, good placement of plugs, up to date microwave and big fridge/freezer.
Just to note - this is an open site, there are no barriers at the front so anyone is able to come in and use the facilities (other than swimming and the club) at any time.
Cons- laundrette was closed the entire week I was there. However there is a laundrette 5 minute drive away.
entertainment. There needs to be a bigger facility in the showdome. For the size of the caravan site although the club is big it should be bigger to accommodate such a big site. People would start queuing for entry at 4:30 when it opened at 5 and if you got there anywhere after 6 there was no chance of you getting a seat.
tree stumps everywhere. Small bumps in the ground I cant tell you how many times I nearly fell flat on my face just when walking, especially around the caravans and the parking bay
parking. I don't know if this is across the park or just my small section. Clemenstone caravan (ashes 21 placement). our allocated parking bay was behind our caravan. Meaning our car was parked In front of someone else's caravan which I found very bizzare and ridiculous. So the neighbours car was parked In front of our caravan and when we wanted to load/unload the car we had to walk around the caravan to the car? We just passed things through the window.
the pool was absolutely freezing. I asked on my first day there if this is always the case I was told no the pump had broken it's now fixed but because it's such a big body of water it takes a while to heat up. We were chatting to one of the locals there who owes a caravan and he said the pool and showers have been freezing since March 2024. I was there for a week and it hadnt heated up by the time I'd left.
One thing that was very poor and complaint worthy was the snowdonia accessibility caravan my family had booked. We have a wheelchair user in the family who is independent. There was no small ramp provided to get into the door and the door had a lip on it. She could not get over it herself so someone had to push her. In the bathroom there were 2 small lips. One cutting off the shower and one by the toilet. I understand the shower one to stop the water coming through however due to the position of both the lips she was unable to; one get her wheelchair over the lip to begin with and two, turn her wheelchair at all in the bathroom to manage on and off the toilet. She gave it a go then got stuck with her wheel between the lips. This caravan did not promote independence of a wheelchair user at all. We were told due to health and safety they were unable to provide a small ramp to get in/out the door and that no one had ever had a problem before with...
Read moreMain toilet leaked from the front in the caravan, not enough space to park our 2 cars anywhere close to van. Due to being near the bins trucks were passing our caravan through the night disturbing our sleep. We mentioned the toilet situation to reception and someone came to look but said it was just condensation however every time we flushed water leaked onto our feet so had to keep reems of toilet roll around the basin. The entertainment for Feb Fest was non existent there was nothing going on during the day, other than krew appearances which again were not on any schedule so didn’t know when they were turning up. Getting rid of the paper booklet of entertainment to a QR code where staff are too lazy to update correctly won’t times wrong events etc was the worst result for PDR, it meant we could not plan any of our days out. When we went swimming the showers are shocking you press the button and turns on and off straight away we had to ask other guests to hold the button in just so I could get a bit of water on my head and my daughters head whilst washing shampoo out. There is no dryers/ hair dryers which is very poor for a place like Trecco, the pool had jets that did not work on the round beds bit of the pool and swimming was so crowded you couldn’t swim just Bob on the spot. When we went to the Indian restaurant we mentioned straight away that we do not do spice and I have an allergy to Gee butter. So from this was recommended to have the korma. The korma was a peculiar dark colour not creamy yellow and with one dip of the naan bread made our mouths tingle. I myself had to be sick as well as Gee butter was used. Some of the arcade machines were a scam where by we fed coins in and no tickets came out we told the arcade staff and showed them and just said the machine knows when to give tickets so might not of won enough. The last thing that took the biscuit was all week we went to the various starland krazy shops in reception, pavilion, arcade, showdome and not one of them had a girls wallet or a sparkle dress age 5-6 or 4-5 only sizes they had was 7-9. On the leaflet given for the Indian it starts open from 5pm every day however when we originally went on Wednesday the door said closed on Wednesdays. I went to complain about the miss information at reception and said they print out daily openings in reception which actually stated different again showing they are closed Mondays and Wednesdays, they apologised for both the leaflet being wrong and the restaurant sign being wrong but did nothing to change them. On Tuesday it was displayed everywhere that Dimomania was going to be on at 12:30 in pavilion but didn’t happen. I again went to reception and they said nothing is on that was put on in error. The website stated that this was one of the sites for exciting Feb fest entertainment well we got nothing at all. Milkshake mornings showed that all the staff don’t talk to each other. I mentioned this to them as with the one week we was there they didn’t do pip and posy like they said they were doing and did 3 of the same shows creating a paw patrol mask 3 times and listening to the same songs and dances. Again I let reception know as my daughter was hoping for variety and knew she was doing the same thing which made her disappointed each time. We will not be coming again simply as the facilities were sub par and none of the staff knew what the left and right hand were doing. The only thing we did enjoy was the night entertainment. The caravan was clean and...
