Ah, The Globe Inn — where cocktails are reimagined with the wild abandon of a toddler in a chemistry set.
Ordered an Old Fashioned. You know, that timeless whisky cocktail with bitters, a touch of sugar, maybe a citrus twist. Classic, right? Instead, what arrived looked like the aftermath of a bar fight between a whisky bottle, a can of ginger beer, and a bottle of grenadine. I took one sip and had flashbacks to college parties I’d rather forget.
Now to be fair, the bartender — a middle-aged blonde woman — did say, “Let me know if it’s wrong, I’ve never made one before!” Which is fine! We all start somewhere. But “wrong” doesn’t quite capture it. This wasn’t an Old Fashioned. It was… an Old Abomination.
So, I did what any decent, polite person would do — I went back, smiling, friendly, and said, “Hey! Totally get that you’re new to it — here’s how it’s normally made.” I even showed her. Bitters, demerara syrup, whisky. Easy peasy, right?
Apparently not. Mid-conversation, she turned away and started chatting with a local regular instead, then served him over me like I was an inconvenient ghost. When I asked if she could just do a straight whisky instead — since clearly bitters and syrup were as mythical as unicorns here — she looked at me like I’d just insulted her dog.
I smiled and said, “Thank you very much!” She snapped back: “You have to PAY for that!!!”
Charming.
I reminded her, “You did say to let you know if it was wrong…” To which she angrily replied, “I told your mate I didn’t know what I was doing, so he knew what he was getting!”
Oh well then — I guess this is all our fault for trusting a bartender to… bartend?
So if you're in the mood for a drink that tastes like regret, paired with a side of sarcasm and served with zero professionalism, The Globe’s got you covered. Just don’t ask questions — the customer service disappears faster than their...

Had food inside as it was too cold outside. The only table left was the one by the door, so a little chilly at times. Very busy all around & as always the food was top notch. Today we had a prime beef burger & a vegan burger, of which both were delicious 😋 our dog behaved himself & sat under the table. Will go back in the new year ✨️
31/07: Had a FANTASTIC lunch today.
Instead of cooking, we decided to eat out & I've been told to try one of our locals.
arrived at 12.30 & the restaurant was packed but as it was a nice afternoon we ate outside.
went to the bar & ordered our drinks & food. Excellent service as our previous visit. Then a member of staff bought out a bowl of water for our dog, along with a massive portion of turkey & I mean it was huge.
5 minutes later we were asked to queue for our carvery. I had beef & pork & my wife had doorstop slices of turkey.
with roast potatoes & all the trimmings, my plate was full of fresh cooked amazing food.
Next there was 25 minutes of silence while we ate our main course. Sadly there was no room for pudding.
Staff were on the ball all the time we were there, collecting glasses, clearing plates & cleaning tables.
We would highly recommend this pub for either just a drink, food or a night out.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Late June:It's like the tardis, much bigger on the inside.
Staff 10/10 - friendly, polite & helpful. Even had a bowl of water for our dog.
Big car park & ample outside tables.
This was our 1st vist & will definitely be...
Read moreOne of the greatest meals I’ve ever had! My partner and I were visiting Wales for the day and decided to visited the Globe for a meal. And we both came out having had one of the best culinary experiences of our lives.
For starters, I had the Prawns, while my fiancé chose the Mozzarella Stick, both of which were incredibly fresh, and were loaded with flavor. The Mozzarella was so fresh, it had a long pull when you tore it apart. Where as the Prawns were crispy and juicy, with every bite being a delight.
For the mains, I had the Loaded Sizzler Chicken Burger special, which was seasoned to perfection, excellently presented, and well portioned. You could tell the chicken was well marinated with the Cajun spices, which complemented the juiciness of the meat. My partner opted for Gammon special, topped with barbecue sauce, pineapple and cheese with a side of chips. Her Gammon was beautifully tender and tangy, with the saltiness of the meat, mixing incredibly with the Barbecue sauce and Pineapple topping. The cheese was the crème de la crème of the meal. Most dishes when you add cheese can be overbearing, but this dish perfectly benefited from the added cheese.
Shoutout to Chef Dewi Howells and his team for their incredible work and the wonderful bar staff for being attentive and welcoming myself and my fiancé for one of the best dining...
