A fascinating addition to the Warkworth Castle experience. It is (at time of writing) only open Sundays and Mondays.
The ferryman was very polite and had already departed a couple of minutes earlier than scheduled, so kindly came back for me when I arrived in the nick of time. Thus I got a private crossing!
I rather suspect this is Britain's most obscure transport service, actually.
Once we were all assembled on the far shore, we had a 10min tour before being left for a few more minutes to explore by ourselves. There are a few hidden things which you will learn about, and it didn't feel rushed despite the short amount of time.
As others have said, it could become expensive on its own. Don't forget English Heritage membership can be quite good value in this part of the country, and sometimes you can get it half price with deals with popular supermarket...

Best to park at Warkworth Castle car park and walk down to the river and then follow the river path for almost half a mile. The river walk is fine but since you need to cross the river in a rowing boat this is not suitable for the infirm or anybody with physical disabilities.
