I'm not sure what has changed recently here at the Masons. 🤔 Twice now my food order has been incorrect and twice the food hasn't been up to its previously good standard. Ask for fries with my meal, i got chips. Twice this has now happend. The chips are not the usual soft cooked potato that we usually get. They are small, hard and sharp with very little potato in them. I have put this down to the time of year of the potatoes. But never had them from here like this before in all the years i have been eating here. The burgers seem to have changed recipe several times over the last 3 months or so. No two burgers we have had have tasted the same. 🤔 Today's burger was a little cremated 😳 and had different cheese on to what we have had previously. Not to mention that the barman got my drinks order wrong. I previously mentioned that i ordered fries with my dinner and not chips i was then offered some fries, but it is too late, once your meal has been served and you are eating with other family members you don't want to be waiting around for some fries to be cooked. Also mentioned that my chips were too hard to eat and that they had no potato in them and all the waitress said was..... I will tell the chef. Either he hasn't listened to the waitress or it was a different chef today because my chips were exactly the same as my last meal there several weeks ago. I overheard another comment in the pub from another table that their meal was pretty poor too. So what has changed in the last 3 months or so here...
Read moreCalled in at the Masons Arms today for lunch; our first visit, can't imagine why we've never tried it before now. The good lady and I both fancied Fish and Chips (although my favourite pub pie was available); having been greeted by a very nice young lady at the entrance we chose to sit in the extensive garden. Orders placed and drinks served by another charming young lady we sat back and waited a short while for food to be served. I noticed our waitress approaching with two heavily laden plates; I was taken aback by the size of the beer battered fish; got to have been the biggest I've seen! Served with lovely brown, hand cut chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce, and nicely presented in what looked like (but wasn't) newspaper and placed on the plates. Ok, quantity is one one thing and quality is another; this dish definitely had both! Having seen off all of my fish I was sorry to have to leave some of my chips, I just couldn't manage them; her ladyship almost cleared her plate but finally had to leave some. All in all, I would heartily recommend that you visit the Mason's Arms, but be warned, you need to be hungry! A nod to the staff who were attentive and...
Read moreWhat a disaster terrible service and the food wasn't worth the wait. We fancied a quick bite and a cheeky beer yesterday lunchtime and opted for their speciality smoked sandwiches. We waited for an hour for our food with no indication that this was how long it would take when we ordered. After waiting 50mins I did actually ask and was given the reply it was just been plated up. My point about the poor service was in reference to been kept informed at the end whilst clearing my table there was an apology stating that its been heaving but upon leaving and viewing the occupancy inside and out I don't believe that was the issue especially when the table next to us arrived 40mins later than us and was served their food straight after us. If we had been informed about the waiting time as we ordered or any delay after ordering this would have been acceptable. When the food arrived it really wasn't worth the wait. Normally when I have had a sandwich of this type the bread struggles to contain the filling in this case the filling struggled to cover the bread. I definitely won't be...
