I visited here on 26th October and this light house was officially closed (out of season) but we were still able to gain access as the place was manned, which was very good as my daughter really wanted to go to the top of the light house. This is a museum at the base and in season also has a cafe and gift shop with a nice large grass garden at the rear that you can get service from the cafe at. Inside the lighthouse some old artifacts and information can be found before taking the 142 step to the top for a spectacular view of the tow and ocean. The stairs are steep and can be very tiring if your not able bodied but the do have a large step/platform in several places where you could rest. The final 21 steps are very steep like ladders and may be restrictive if your not able bodied. Its well worth a visit for the view for the top. A lovely place and friendly helpful staff.

I popped in on a whim as Spurn Head was closed. 3 fascinating museums with some artefacts. RNLI, Withernsea local and Kay Kendall ( Rex Harrison’s wife). Then there is the lighthouse itself, 127 feet to climb, 144 steps the last 23 ladder like. I was knackered by the time I got to the top, but the views are worth it. Morse code windows at the top and from one, in good weather you can see the Humber Bridge. I was fortunate in that I had the top to myself as it’s a bit cosy up there. You can’t get outside, for safety reasons but that doesn’t distract from the experience. The chap in the entrance was very interesting to talk to and I’m told that the attached cafe is the cheapest in the town. This I can’t verify but if the rest is anything to go by, I wouldn’t disagree

We thoroughly enjoyed this visit. £3 each for adults, lots of models of seafaring, ships and activities, lifeboat memorabilia, a long walk up the staircase to the top of the lighthouse, great views from the top. Local history in the cottage to the rear of the lighthouse, originally the keepers accommodation. Cafe in the rearmost room smashing drinks at very reasonable price. Nice cake too. Lovely garden to the rear with tables and chairs for enjoying your refreshments. Pet friendly as well. One of the outbuildings in the garden has been turned into an exhibition space. Currently holding a photographic exhibition of Pebbles and Poems, and a physical exhibition of embroidered works by a local artist. Exhibition items are for sale. All well...
