Previous given 5 stars, but following a visit this week have reduced it to 3 stars. This is one of our favourite places to visit for a couple of hours with our dogs & grandchildren, BUT as the County Council have commandeered part of the parking area (approx 50 spaces) for the exclusive use of the council to add onto their already extensive car parking area at their offices next door, it meant that there were no parking spaces available when we arrived mid morning and had to wait for somebody to leave. We thought this strange as the kids were back at school, but noticed that some of the other people arriving were carrying files / paperwork so I can only assume that these people using the Worcester Woods car parking area were council people or visitors as the Orchard cafe wasn't particularly busy, and there wasn't loads of people walking their dogs etc at that time. Therefore whilst the facilities of the woods, Orchard cafe and children's play area may still be good, BUT if it is difficult to park because other people not using the facilities in Worcester woods are using the car park then it becomes frustrating not to be able to access and enjoy either walking in the woods or having a nice cuppa of...
Read moreFree parking, excellent playground but absolutely shockingly bad breakfast! It was over £8 (I'm ok with that if it's good) but the toast was cold, the one sausage was cooked on one side, bacon under cooked, and the eggs under cooked with parts of the white still 'snotty'. The whole breakfast was made worse by a massive, whole breakfast tainting portion of homemade baked beans. Sounds great, but these are not baked beans as you know them; colour wise they look like they have gone off and taste somewhere in between barbecued stew and Mexican food. Perfectly fine if that's what you think you are getting but these are beans on a full breakfast. They are so bad (or just not right as part of a breakfast) that I assume they are the chef's vanity project and no-one has the courage to tell him/her that they don't work. I returned both breakfasts as wasn't offered a refund. Right, I'm off to find somewhere else to feed the kids. P.S. Coffee good and the cakes...
Read moreWhile the youngsters surge round the two main park sections (One for small children, one for bigger kids), you can sit back and relax from either the outdoor tables or inside the cafe, which sells Coffee, Cakes or other meal items.
There is an over hang with a line of tables too, next to the cafe, which protects from the rain, if Google Weather lets you down.
Next to the park is a very large open field to play ball games and the like, and if that isn't enough, there is even a small train ride which is open during the dry seasons.
Nunnery Wood is situated next to the park and is a great place to get lost in the wilderness and for your children to play hide and seek amongst the trees. Make sure they bring their wellies as there are plenty of places to splash about, so don't ruin their new shoes!
All in all it's a great place to have family days out including picnics etc, of which I have had many times and definitely will again...
