A random walk through Workington, on a return trip to her roots for my wife, led us to wander through the park, past the great raised loop for model train enthusiasts by Ladies' Walk. A delightfully well-maintained park, and the ruins to look at, made for a pleasant morning. The edifice is also known as Curwen Hall.

Make sure you visit the Helena Thompson museum before heading to see Workington Hall as it's history is very well explained at the museum. Really interesting building. I look forward to returning when it's made safe for public access again.

The park is well-maintained with lush greenery and plenty of shaded areas. There are walking trails, a kids' play area, and benches for relaxation. It's perfect for jogging, picnics, and family outings

With some investment, this could be a great aesthetically pleasing venue for gigs and events. It does provide a dramatic backdrop for presentations and outdoor theatre It is not open to the public as the structure of the building is unsafe. There is therefore no charge for entry. The surrounding park and gardens are lovely for residents to enjoy with access to a large park and riverside walk. We have attended two free events - a Light show which was lovely on a dark winters night and a theatre production of Much Ado about nothing (was hard to hear at the back so should arrive earlier). Weather is obviously not guaranteed and there is no shelter. Would love to see musical...
