With the Great Ñorth event starting later this month and George Stephensons original Rocket coming up from London to be put on display I thought I would take my nephew to see is humble beginnings. I contacted my friend who lives near Wylam to get directions to the nearest car park and the reason why. His reply was straight forward, Don't waste your time, The National Tust closed the Museum in 2016 with vague promises to reopen it bigger and better.
I contacted the National Tust and spoke to a very nice person who proceed to give me the standard National Tust blah blah. You know the sirt of thing, oh we have many fine buildings in the area you can visit, which is true enough but what connection do they have with George Stephenson(NOTHING ), but when I pressed the person to answer my questions it all became unstuck. Q). Why did they close the Museum and Then sit down to think about improving lt ???. Q). Why after a two year closure can you not say what improvements you intend to carry out ???. Q). If this Museum was raking in cash would you still have proceeded as you have ???. Q). What improvements can you do to a .Grade 2 listed property in a Green belt area ???, well I suppose they can rearrange the furniture but you do not need two years to work this out.
