I had an amazing experience visiting the Malibu Creek Rock Pool! It's a hidden gem in the Santa Monica Mountains, perfect for anyone looking to escape the city and connect with nature.
The hike to the rock pool is scenic and relaxing, about 2.5 miles round trip with mostly flat and easy terrain—great for beginners or casual hikers. Along the trail, you’re surrounded by oak trees, rocky outcrops, and peaceful creek views. I went on a sunny day, and the natural light filtering through the trees made the whole trail feel magical.
The rock pool itself is stunning! Crystal-clear water surrounded by dramatic rock formations makes it feel like a natural oasis. It's a great spot for photos, videos, or just relaxing and enjoying the calm. I saw people swimming and even cliff jumping (though be careful and check the water depth first!). It's also a fantastic spot to sit, reflect, and enjoy the quiet.
There are bathrooms and picnic areas near the parking lot, which is convenient. Parking costs $3–12 depending on how long you stay, and it’s worth it. I recommend arriving early on weekends, as it can get crowded later in the day.
Tips:
Bring water and wear sturdy shoes. Cell service is limited, so download a map in advance. Leave no trace—help keep this beautiful spot clean! Highly recommend this spot to nature lovers, hikers, and photographers. Will...
Read moreMalibu Creek is Beautiful especially after a good rain. After the rain the river is flowing and the waterfalls are gorgeous. The hike to rock pool is probably about a mile and a 1/2 or so. It is a beautiful hike! People swim at the rock pool, but I wouldn't recommend it if the water isn't flowing. If you traverse along the rock past the rock pool and climb up you get to a rocm climbing area called Mt. Gorgeous 😍! There are about 36 amazing routes here of all difficulties. You could come everyday and probably never be bored unless your an incredibly strong climber. I come for the climbing and will probably be coming for a long time before I can send all the routes. I highly recommend this place for all adventurers. Whether your a climber or just looking for some outstanding hiking Malibu Creek is beautiful. Parking is $12 otherwise this place is...
Read moreFirst of all it’s gorgeous. Secondly it’s filled with bacteria that you shouldn’t swim in. I was so bummed to find this out after being so excited about swimming there. Odd thing is, they do not have a sign about the bacteria at the pools themselves and you aren’t warned at the entrance. Just a small sentence about it in the brochures they don’t even let you have for free, you have to pay for them! My friend saw the online brochure and told me about it right before I was gonna swim. I will add it in these photos. Bacteria isn’t something to mess around with. Please don’t let it get into any of your body holes or cuts! Also the water is intensely legitimately green, it was gross seeing people swim in it watching the green water be pushed around. Does not stink though! In all, this park in general...
