I have gone to AGW for a number of different things and had a great experience, usually with the brown haired Shawn. I specifically go to them for anything so Iām supporting local businesses. Today I went for my first ever club fitting and was āhelpedā by the younger red haired Sean.
I went in beaming, ready to learn about my swing and purchase a new driver. I was met with no introduction of himself or the clubs I was trying out. Just silence and handing me a club. Whenever I asked a question it was met with a one word answer or a snarky answer.
Ex: āhow does spin effect the ball flight? Why are you looking for more spin?ā
S: āits what makes the ball flyā
āThank you Iām well versed in fluid dynamics, can you tell me more about how it affects misses and different shot types in regards to my swing?ā
S: ādepends on the kind of missāā¦
I was basically crying information out of him the entire time. I bought a driver after about 45 minutes because I didnāt want my full hundred dollars going towards just him or the shop as opposed to $75 of it going towards a new club if I purchased.
I think he was extremely knowledgeable and has clearly done this a lot of times, but I felt condescended towards and I was met with a very bad attitude as opposed to any type of customer service whatsoever. Honestly, I donāt think Iāll ever go back even though itās a couple blocks from my house. Granted people have bad days, but donāt bring it to work or everyone suffers. Maybe one of the biggest let downs in customer service Iāve ever experienced.
Edit: the cool Shawn ended up finishing my driver early. Not from the factory but he did it so I gave them another Star.
Double edit: not sure if he was having a bad day or not, but maybe I judged too quickly or our personalities and headspace were just very far apart. Iāve had a couple interactions with him since and he was much more engaging and really nice. Also, I smoke my driver that he fitted for me so he clearly knows...

I got fitted on April 29th and was told that my clubs would be shipped to me within 4-6 weeks. I waited 5 weeks and gave the shop a call to check on my order status, and was told that I would receive a call back from the associate that fitted me for the clubs as soon as he finished up with another customer. After a few hours, I hadnāt heard back from the associate, so I called Titleist directly.
The Titleist rep was very helpful and informed me that the order was not submitted to them until May 24th, nearly a month after my fitting. When I finally got in touch with the associate that fitted me to discuss what had delayed the submission of the order, he chalked it up to someone elseās error. Now the shafts I ordered are sold out and wonāt be restocked until June 15th, and Titleist will need a few more weeks on top of that to complete and ship my order. Yesterday the associate at Alameda told me he would contact someone about the issue and keep me in the loop via email, and I have yet to receive anything. Worth every penny. When I came back for my appointment Sean was very knowledgeable and wasted no time! Told him what I was looking for and some of my current problems with my driver. I hit a few with my current set up and right away he started pulling shafts for me to try. I went in thinking my misses were partly because of my shaft, blaming my equipment. Sean pointed out right away that most of my problems were at address. He explained to me why my current shaft was producing that shot that I was trying to avoid and explained what equipment would work for my swing.
