Went out with Capt Ross of Pacific Angler Sportfishing. Super choppy conditions. I don’t usually do jackpots but the boat wanted to and my new fishing friend Michael Scott (for real) really insisted. Capt Ross offered to spot me for the jackpot but I went with the groups plan and put in for the jackpot. The second time the captains rod went off, he told me to take it. This fish wrapped 3 other lines, ran under the boat from the bow and we had to hand line it to the net. Miracle it didn’t pop off and we landed this 17lb beauty. Conditions got rough out and so we cut our trip short for safety and headed around 10am. Capt Ross will never put our safety at risk and charged us a half day price. It’s better to be lucky than good. This hidden gem charter also is one of the few boats that runs out of Alameda. They have top of the line rods and reels and use premium tray bait anchovies. He also doesn’t charge for the cannon ball weights like most charters, they are included. The cabin is warm and the boat is new and spotless. His boat is also fast so it means less time driving and more time fishing and he can put you on the fish very quickly....
Read moreWent out with captain Ross and deckhand Joseph green . I’ve never been on a more professional charter the deck hand joe is so loveable and kind he does everything for you and is on his game he knows how to read what the fish are doing and how they are biting and will adjust accordingly. To be honest I learned so much about fishing after that charter it made me a better fisherman . Captain Ross works so hard to get you on fish and he can read conditions and know where to be and why . I feel like this is something that is lost in most charter experiences where they just go to the same spots and don’t try to adapt to conditions and mood of the bite capt Ross is the complete opposite and that’s what I feel sets his charter apart from others . If you want to have a great experience go with pacific angler Sportfishing. Also his boat is new and state of the art and bad...
Read moreI chartered two times with captain Ross and both times were phenomenal. The first trip was for halibuts and I limited out on three halibuts plus one striper! The trip was inside the bay with calm waters on a super nice day. The second trip was for salmon but the salmon was scarce so Captain Ross proposed for rockcods and lings and to the Farallon islands we went. I must admit, the water was rougher than I expected but it was worth the trip. Captain made sure we limited out so he stayed longer than planned. The entire boat limited out on rock and lings. Professional and courteous. Excellent trip!!! P.S. if you are like me, my Only advice is to take Dramamine if you are planning to head outside of the Golden...
