Booked a helicopter ride with Andy and his company. In august about 30 days out . Submitted are personal weight and data paid the deposit . Phoned Andy several times to reassure the trip would be a GO. Inquired several times about the flight the helicopter the gear the landing the weather the equipment the pilots and the link up point . At know time was my two man group ever warned , advised or informed about a maximum weight requirement . 10 days prior to the snow machine tour Andy text me and said he was going to run my credit card for payment in full . 10 days prior to the actual tour date . When discussing what my two person group needs to bring I was advised we would be required to bring everything but a helmet . Suit , boots , mask , gloves , long johns , stocking hat , back pack , camera, food, water, lunch, I advised Andy we would rather rent cold weather gear from him if possible . Not any real. Response . On the date of our ride it was sprinkling in Seward the choppers flew in and out every 30 minutes . Andy arrived two hours prior to the flight . He never eve talked to us for 30 minutes just a text early that morning indicating are flight would probably get cancelled or delayed so don’t bother coming to the departure air field until notified to do so . We showed up early anyway to watch are chopper go out . At the scheduled departure time it was raining Andy’s was super nervous . The pilots shut the chopper off and went in the office all the tourist left . Andy still had not discussed are tour details as of yet . He appeared scared to go to the glacier , but first one to quit looses the money in a cancel trip so we sat in the quest waiting area like good tourist . 15 minutes after are scheduled flight and who had been constantly texting on his phone for two hours advises us are application to go on the trip was reviewed by the pilot and that he wouldn’t fly us up on the mountain . Andy took us out on in the parking lot behind the office to tell us we were denied . I demanded a weight requirement. I reweighed in at 221 my weight I submitted a weight of 220 my buddy submitted 250 his was 270 he was20 pounds over . Are total was 21 pounds . Andy said we lied and he could do nothing about it . The. Pilot is his cousin and business partner . We weighed in in tennis shoes and did. Not even have the gear we were advised we could bring in the aircraft . Which is in no way something I should be responsible for knowing the weight of on a tour . We were told to leave , all while the choppers was shut down and it was raining because we lied on are weights by 21 pounds . No one wanted to go on the flight the pilots or Andy . But a great way to run a scam and call it a safety issue is say you heavy lied and in eligible to go and Andy said that warrants keeping the credit card money . No refund . To re booking , no future value . The. Money is gone . We didn’t no show Andy we were 21 pounds over on are submittedweights minus the 100 pounds of gear he said we could take on the mountain and we’re sent of the property. I requested the flight crew take just Andy and my friend I would sit my 221 pound body in the car and wait . Andy said no give me 500.00 additional dollars two make two trips up the mountain or he was going home . He was not in the business of loosing money . I said I’ll wait in the car . It would not cost Andy money to take one customer vs two . But I never...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I cannot have been more impressed with the professionalism and friendly snowmobiling experience we had with Alaska Backcountry Access this past week. We called several companies who did not answer their phones and we had a few questions we wanted answered before we shelled out hundreds of dollars. The owner, Andy answered the phone and we had an extremely informative conversation where I could hear his passion. We instantly chose Alaska Backcountry Access and paid for two snowmobiles at the suggestion of Andy. I was originally going to ride on the back but the experience ultimately would not have been nearly as amazing. The day of, we met Andy’s wife Zana who met us with a smile and the best personality ever! She made sure we were dressed for the weather from head to toe. All of which was provided and included in the experience. Our guide, Andrew was equally as friendly and led us on the adventure of our lifetime. What we saw was absolutely breathtaking. The glaciers and views were stunning. All along we would stop, have interesting conversations and both Andrew and Zana without us asking would take photos to capture our memories. Fast forward to the end of the day and we had lost our rental keys. The entire Alaska Backcountry Access crew stayed with us and made sure the two rookies from California were going to be ok. I’m certain that you too will not be disappointed if you choose Alaska Backcountry Access for a truly amazing snowmobile experience. Thank you all again,...
Read moreI recently took a tour with Alaska Backcountry Access, and it was hands down one of the most exhilarating and unique experiences I’ve ever had! The jet boat ride was an adrenaline rush—speeding down the river, weaving through debris, and soaking in the stunning Alaskan wilderness. Along the way, we spotted incredible wildlife, including a juvenile eagle that flew so close, it felt surreal.
The adventure continued as we got up close to massive icebergs and trekked on a glacier. One of the most memorable moments was discovering a secret lake hidden within the glacier—its serene beauty and the soothing sounds of melting ice were like something out of a spa. It was a rare, peaceful moment in the middle of such a thrilling day.
After the hike, we hopped into kayaks and paddled right up to the glacier’s face. Exploring tunnels and alcoves created by melting ice was like entering another world. To top it all off, the tour ended up being private, just us and our incredible guides, Andy and Zara. Their passion and knowledge made this experience truly one-of-a-kind.
If you’re looking for a thrilling, yet serene adventure in the Alaskan backcountry, this tour is unbeatable. From the jet boat ride to glacier trekking and kayaking, every moment was filled with excitement and awe....
