The Alyeska Aerial Tram is a great way to see some of the most beautiful scenery in Alaska. The tram takes you up to an elevation of 2,300 feet, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Chugach Mountains, the Turnagain Arm, and the surrounding glaciers. The tram runs every 15 minutes, so you don't have to wait long to get on.

I had a good Macchiato from the café in the hotel before we went up. The ride up was short, but it was still worth it for the views.

The activities at the top of the tram were a bit disappointing. There is a restaurant, a gift shop, and a small roped off area you can walk around to take pictures. The gift shop is overpriced, and there's not much to choose from.

Overall, we had a good experience at the Alyeska Aerial Tram. The views were amazing, and the ride was smooth. However, we think the activities at the top of the tram were overpriced (granted we visited in early June before the hiking trails opened). At this time of year, I would recommend going for the views, but not for the activities.

Here are some tips for your visit to the Alyeska Aerial Tram:

Buy your tickets online in advance to save time. Bring a camera to capture the amazing views. Wear comfortable shoes for the hike if it's summer. Bring a jacket, even in the summer, as it can be cold at the top. Have lunch at the restaurant or pack a picnic lunch. Enjoy the views and take your...

Called in advance to check last day of tram service hours. Especially excited to visit as Aleyeska was hosting a food drive for local charity and the weather was stunning. A win for everyone.

Hotel representative stated service was operational until 7PM. We arrived at 5PM with two boxes of canned goods. Tram ticket sales office was closed. Gift shop clerk had no suggestions how to contact management so we wouldn't have to luggage heavy boxed donations through building to at least leave for resource center they were collecting for.

As we made our way back to vehicle we passed several people irate over wasting time and fuel to come to Girdwood. Absolutely terrible coordination with no communication.

The little coffee shop was closed, the bathrooms were a mess and not stocked. One employee around who had no current information or enery/interest n finding answers. If this is how Aleyeska represents themselves for a widely advertised non profit event I can only imagine how awful the daily running of...

First of all, stay at this resort! the rooms are very nice!! They even had heated towel racks (which makes getting out of shower so pleasurable). We took this Aerial Tram to their SkyBridges!! This was not for the faint of heart!! The skybridge was only about 12" wide!! It cost about $150/person to do the bridges, and the hike was pretty steep (climbing about 800 Feet in 1.2 miles). I learned I need to get into better shape, but the tour guides were extremely patient with me and my slowness and need for breaks. You can also take this Aerial Tram which provides amazing views on a clear day!! At the top of the tram are a couple places to eat and a few trails which are quite difficult. But the entire property of Alyeska was beautiful!! I loved my stay their and highly recommend spending at least a few days to relax and enjoy the...

If you're looking for a tram ride in Alaska that takes you over 1000 feet up to the top of a mountain, that costs perhaps $15 to $20 too much, but at least it's also a little smelly, but the people are fun-- then you have found it in the Alyeska Aerial Tram. To get there from Anchorage is about a 45 minute drive down Turnagain Arm, which is one of the most beautiful drives you will ever experience. The people are fun and there is a neat gift shop at the top, but don't go too early in the season because there will be snow and you won't be able to explore much of the mountaintop. I recommend you go in July or later. Fun bonus is that if you go there last year and this year, you might be able to crash a wedding that's happening each time. It's a beautiful spot for a wedding. So this might also give you ideas.

The weather was not cooperative. This was as we were heading down and the cloud momentarily parted. It is all about the view so I would avoid if not clear. I good museum at the top, the ability to hike up or down and of course, food and drink at the top. We ate at the fancy restaurant...the theme is lots of small plates in a fixed price format. I am not a seafood eater and they went overboard to accommodate me. They have a spectacular wine list but a lot of it was yet to be delivered. We found something that worked beautifully. Service is crisp but very friendly. There is also a brews and grease place but we didn't try it. All this is owned by the Tlingit First Nation and I am very impressed. Amassing that kind of capital, executing the plan, and operating smoothly is worthy of praise.
