DeLong Lake — Attraction in Alaska

This is one of the cleanest lakes in Anchorage. Parking is easy, free, and plentiful, and there's a nice dock if you're not up for getting in the water.

There are fish in the lake, and all you need is a little kiddie pole and some salad shrimp to catch them.

My favorite thing to do here is go paddle boarding. Most of the lake front is marshy, but there's a nice area with grass for picnicing, a small bench, and a big shade tree.

The lake isn't really set up for swimming, but it's a nice size for paddling around. Getting across the lake at a leisurely pace takes about 20 minutes, and going all the way around at a leisurely pace can be an hour or so.

We've had moose wade out into the water and we always see lots of birds.

Small lake, good for paddle board. We have a canoe and it felt we have explored all after 40 min hanging around. We decided to just relax and watch the kids playing with they mini motorboat and other people fishing. It is a calm lake, not too much of a crowd, the only noisy part are the airplanes...
