Although, currently is not even near the season for falls be seen as falls at all, early morning hike along the Sweetwater river is remarkable. There are lots of flickers, jays, finches, doves, some hawks and vultures, and, of course, turkeys one will meet while walking. There are many insects there as well: hoppers, wasps, butterflies, ants. And if you have some botanical knowledge, you will enjoy manzanitas, oaks, sycamores, ironwood, endotropies, hollyleaf...

While the hike to the falls is an easy one, it loses a star due to the crowds. The easiest set of falls to reach is always crowded. Most people are nice about it, but you can get someone who wants to be rude. Continue further down the trails and there are more spots to enjoy the water with less people, but farther from the picnic area, and uphill on the way back.
