Worst experience ever!!! Stayed Sunday the 13th to Monday the 14th. Reserved two camping sites (79 and 80), three cars, three families, total of 10. Yes I know 8 people per site. Little did we know camp site 79 is next to a handicap site. Person complained, park ranger came to tell us something about noise and then got technical. Yes, I admit our music was loud and so we turned it off. But then we hear other campsites being loud with their music and even had people screaming and they get told nothing? We know who complained. My issue is why put a regular campsite next to a handicap site. We’ve been camping in Yosemite, Bishop, Sequoia, paso picacho, havasu, and this is the first time we’ve been told something. If you’re going to hold people accountable for “noise,” then please be fair. We’ve always been polite and hold ourselves accountable for our trash and keeping the campsites clean. We’ve gone as far as holding community service events and cleaning campsites. This experience was uncalled for. NEVER staying at this site again. Rancho Cuyamaca SP, you’ve let me down completely. Hold your rangers accountable for being fair across the campgrounds and not singling campers out. If you have a family, this is the WORST...

Great place to camp with family.

We had site 27 and loved it. It has several tent spots, plenty of wiggle room, and water access adjacent to the campsite. Clean restrooms just a short walk away (maybe a little far for the women, but close enough - normally we don’t like camping right next to the restrooms:).

Downsides: the park staff don’t empty the fire pits very often - ours was nearly overflowing with ash. The bathrooms have no soap. The reservation website charges $8 to book a reservation. Extra cars cost extra $10/night. The park staff do not mark off reserved sites- which could cause confusion over weekends when the park is not monitored as often and people just stop by to camp for the night with no reservation.

The Sweetwater River falls hike is at the base of the campground. It was a very short and beautiful hike. April 2023 the water was abundant, almost overflowing the banks. Beautiful site!

The elevation is just under 4K, high enough to get real cool nights, but low enough to be below the snow line most...

We've been here a few times and love it. So close to San Diego. Call to be sure the falls aren't dry. But even if they aren't running, you might find water snakes, salamanders, lizards and deer. You can jump and slide on the rock waterfalls, which are great when it is hot. Beautiful stars! There are some great trails to give you different vanage points on surrounding mountains.

As for camping, there are really nice bathrooms and showers. Some camping spot are hilly so watch out as your tent area might have you sliding a little. Lots of flies in the heat unless you find a breezy area, like we did at the bottom of a hill under trees. Most spots have decent shaded areas. Check weather. Some nights can be chilly.

You can go to Julian for dinner/pie or the nearby lake is another great hike around or go up Mt. Laguna or down to the desert. Everything is...

Two of my buddies and I went overnight just to hang out, and overall we had a great time. For $30/night it was really good, the sites were big enough for my 8-man tent plus all the gear we brought, there was wildlife such as birds and squirrels everywhere, and at night the sky was perfectly clear. My only real complaint is that there were airplanes flying over us all night, but it wasn't that big of a deal unless you are a light sleeper. All in all, I had a really good time and I would return.
