This free museum tells the story of the area from stone age through its settlement as an industrial hub. Rooms on the ground floor of the old hospital are dedicated to one aspect or time period, starting with flint tools and wild animals and ending with school. The second floor has exhibits related to medicine, including an iron lung from the 1950's, the military, more recent Amory history and culture, and an old wooden canoe. There's some artwork, an antique car tucked beneath one staircase, and an old train car which has a model railroad as part of its displays. Read moreGrowing up in Amory I never had been here before. Recently went and was absolutely impressed by the items and history this small place offered. You think there's not much to it looking on the outside, just a small quick trip. WRONG! It had a lot of variety of items and displays. The building itself was a master piece inside. The staff was wonderful and the all the exhibits were perfectly laid out. If you get time with family to visit I recommend it. This took well over the expected 15 minutes of our day we ancitpated and we enjoyed every minute of it and wanting more. It turned out to fill our morning and was exactly what we were looking for.
