Boysen Park: A Local Gem for Family Fun

Boysen Park, affectionately known by many as "Airplane Park" due to its iconic U.S. Navy Cougar jet, is a delightful community space that offers something for everyone. Located in Anaheim, this park stands out not only for its historical centerpiece but also for its well-maintained amenities and welcoming atmosphere.

The star attraction is undoubtedly the vintage jet airplane, which has been a prominent fixture since 1959. Kids (and adults!) love the opportunity to interact with this piece of history, making it a unique and memorable playground experience. While getting in and out might require a little help for younger children, the thrill of being so close to a real airplane is undeniable.

Beyond the airplane, Boysen Park boasts a good range of facilities. There are multiple playgrounds with equipment suitable for various ages, all set on soft woodchips for safety. For those looking to be active, you'll find basketball courts and baseball/softball fields, perfect for a casual game or organized sports.

Picnic areas with tables and BBQ facilities are scattered throughout the park, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings, birthday parties, or just a relaxing outdoor meal. The well-maintained walking trails offer a pleasant environment for a stroll, and the general greenery provides a peaceful escape from the urban hustle.

Boysen Park is also dog-friendly, which is a big plus for pet owners who want to enjoy the outdoors with their leashed companions. Restroom facilities and ample parking add to the convenience, ensuring a comfortable visit for all. Overall, Boysen Park delivers on its promise of a family-friendly green space. It's clean, well-equipped, and offers a unique blend of recreational opportunities and historical intrigue.

Whether you're a local looking for a regular outdoor spot or visiting the area, Boysen Park is definitely worth a visit for a dose of fresh...

It's a nice park. Very spacious with 2huge playgrounds for kids to play at. It also has a nice walk/running path. Lots of green grass for any kind of sports. My only complaint is the homeless people residing there. They are not only drugged up but also have mental issues. Keep your kids from going into those bathrooms because the homeless are in there all the time. It's definitely not safe to use the bathroom! There is constant fighting in those bathroom between them. The yelling coming out of the bathroom isn't very pretty. Definitely makes your park visit unpleasant! Always roll up your vehicle windows as there have been some occasions where the homeless will reach into your car regardless of the fact that you're next to your vehicle. Cops won't do anything...

I used to go to this park when I was in my teens and twenties. It's still a pretty good Park. There's a big cement airplane that's been there forever that the children love to climb on. There's also a couple of small play areas. There are picnic tables here and lots of green grass. There are also public restrooms available, which of course could use a little more upkeep, but that's usually what you find at these parks. At least they have one, LOL. You don't get to see a lot of bad element, it's pretty family-friendly, lots of people with dogs.. There are picnic tables here and lots of green grass. Had a great time here with my two nephews. It is a really nice place to spend a few hours letting the kids run off...

This park is awesome! It’s clean and has lots of play area to keep my infant happy for two hours! There are two rockets one with the more intense slides and climbing area for the big kids. There’s a smaller area for younger kids with two slides with room for a parent to accompany their LO to teach them how to use the slides properly. There are also to swing area for kids to play in. One for the older kids and one for the younger kids. There’s a jungle gym for the little one to climb safely. There’s a little rocket that they can sit on that they can bounce around. The star of the park is the giant jet, that kids and adults climb on.

A very nice urban oasis...old, tall trees, places to get sunshine or shade. The restrooms need a refurbishing, and as could be expected, are magnets for the large, unruly homeless population that is prominent up and down State College. Fortunately this park generally has a safe family atmosphere with only small scattered congregations of the homeless. I am homeless myself, so don't assume I am unfairly bagging on the homeless. There are some very nice, responsible, honest and clean homeless among the vast majority of drug-addicted, irresponsible filthy opportunistic thieves out there. Not many, but a few...
