Riverdale Park — Attraction in Anaheim

Large grassy area with huge lights for the baseball field makes Riverdale Park great for evening games and gatherings. The field is open and well-maintained, perfect for sports or just relaxing. The restrooms are surprisingly decent—cleaner than most public parks—which is always a plus. There’s a basketball court near the front entrance, and the park also offers plenty of parking.

One of the standout features is the covered picnic area, complete with built-in grills for barbecues, making it an ideal spot for family events or weekend hangouts. Scattered throughout the grassy areas are park benches, each paired with nearby trash cans, helping keep the space clean and enjoyable. A paved walking path runs along the outside perimeter of the park, perfect for a jog or a peaceful stroll.

There’s also a large play area for kids, including a fun, two-story slide and a jungle gym. Swings and other climbing equipment round out the options, keeping kids busy for hours. It is not as nice as other Anaheim hills parks but I have to admit after being in the area for 8+ years, this park has its own charm. This is despite being one of the more neglected parks in the area (e.g., the smaller kids playground was demolished/removed years ago after pretty bad wood rot but it has never been replaced, the wood chips are often not replaced as quickly as other parks like Peralta).

My kids love this park and ask to go here specifically over other nearby parks like Peralta. They call it the fire station park. The restrooms are close, there's a seating area adjacent to the playground, and a lot of open field. I think they like it because it takes a little work to get into the bigger kids playground ... there aren't just straight stairs up, which makes tag almost impossible for their fat dad. My middle child has soccer practice (through Canyon Hills Soccer Association) here in the fall. The fields are fairly well maintained. There are two half court basketball courts facing each other and a baseball field, as well. It's right next to the Santa Ana River trail and popular spot for road bikers to park their cars before going on a ride.

Would recommend if you keep your expectations low. Great...
