Horrible store. The merchandise is all presented horribly, as if they are trying as hard as possible to show off their getting free stuff and overcharging, stuff I've looked at 2-3 years ago is still sitting on the Shelfs at the same price unsold, employees are firm on the price of everything and have a strict non negotiating policy, even when I offered to buy all the ridiculously overpriced "Broken for repair", dirty, playstation 1 consoles with no cords for $5 each in the front, for slightly less if I bought them all, they looked at me like I was insulting them, I looked through thr entire store and found one item I wanted to buy, it had no price, they cannot sell any item that is not priced "it has to go to the back again so they can look up a price, it usually comes back out after a week" so in other words. No price, they cannot sell you the item, no matter what you offer, it's their policy to not sell it, the store is a complete waste of time as I am a shopper of these stores and spend 10's of thousands at thrift stores annually, this store is the exception, why buy anything if it's all broken or overpriced or not even for sale. In addition to this. Every Electronic item I bought at this store in Appleton, whether it was a Keyboard, Record Player, Amplifier, priced at $10, $35, $60, $100, nothing worked, they sell all their electronics "as-is" if you find a cassette player that retails for $80 online, they will have it priced at $80, if it's priced at $40, even $50, test it out, 100% of the time they price an electronic item for less than ebay price, it's because it doesnt even work. This is a bad place and I don't recommend this store to anyone, their clothing section is large, but same thing, anything worthy of buying is overpriced or has defects, it's enough they get everything for free, they could sell their merchandise for much cheaper and have a more successful business, that's the trade off of an online business(like ebay) vs having a store front (like this Vinnies store), you get the opportunity to sell millions of 25 cent to three dollar items and the store generates over a million dollars in sales, while If you price all the junk electronics at ebay price, no sensible person will be willing to buy it, I'd have spent thousands in this store if they would actually price stuff to sell and not to "price accordingly" because it just doesn't work for the buyers, at least not the buyers that like going back to these stores and buying stuff every time, there's nothing worse than finding something you actually want to buy in a store like this and the price is too high beyond reason, and the employees aren't allowed to negotiate a fair price. I'm not saying like a $200 turntable should be $20, I'm just saying a $200 turntable they got for free shouldn't be priced at $150 with no returns and sold as-is, there's no sense in charging that or paying that. 6 blocks away, Pawn America buys stereo components all day long, for cash, and they sell them for 1/3 to 1/2 of retail price and they are willing to negotiate on large purchases, they offer returns, like they should, all while paying employees and maintaining a successful business. If you find an item In pawn America that isn't priced. They'll have a price for you within five minutes and it's usually cheaper than you'd expect because they price items to sell because they are in the business of selling items at a fair price, unlike the Appleton Vinnies store that gets everything given to them and overcharges on most items, and is overall a very poor business, they need to get with the times and price items to sell, get people to keep coming back, after what I've seen the past few years the Vinnies store has gotten worse and I won't be stopping back...
Read moreWe (a family with two small children!) tried to visit the store on June 22. an employee who was at the checkout on June 22 at 3:20 pm behaved disgustingly with customers. for some reason she decided not to let us into the sales area, because my wife had a backpack (not a large tourist one, but an ordinary everyday one). She began to demand that we leave it near her in some closet. If we could have been without a backpack, we would have left it in the car. But it contained the medications my wife needed, which she might need at any moment. This was reported to this employee. She said in a boorish manner that she didn’t care and that was how they protected themselves from theft. Thus, we were still labeled as criminals. And in response to our refusal, the employee quickly began loudly calling for help, which frightened us greatly, because we had not done anything illegal or aggressive and, let me remind you, we were with small children. We tried to find out the reasons and reasons why we should leave our things with strangers in an unfamiliar place. But we go to this store regularly and with the same backpack and have never had such questions. And this time too - they just came to leave their money in this store. The last time we came there. This is the first time we have seen something like this in America. People come to such organizations for help, but in fact we received fear and negative emotions. We felt unsafe during the day in the city at a (charity) organization that bears the name of a saint! We are a family of Catholics. We are shocked by what happened. And this is because of the actions of one employee who did all this in a sweet voice with a smile. but with boorish content, a desire to assert oneself and show one’s power. It's a pity that such people work for you. May God help her. In any case, we will no longer appear in this store, even though its location is very convenient for us. We don't feel safe there. Once again: we were not allowed to take medications with us! Even at airports there is no such wildness! We would like to warn other customers - you may encounter an unfriendly female employee, although most are...
Read moreThe one thing that I loved about this location was their vintage clothing section it was epic you could find really cool pieces, but then all of a sudden it was downsized and what they call “vintage” is maybe 20 years old if that a lot of it is newer I have a feeling I know what happened either. They’re selling it online or they’re selling it wholesale to somebody now, this used to be one of the best thrift stores in the area, and now they are falling right in line with pretty much every other thrift store, overpriced, and anything that is unique or cool, or Vintage is pulled and doesn’t make it to the floor, I totally understand they have bills to pay and employees to pay and they do help. I would a lot of people, but....
