I wholeheartedly suggest this place! Please have patience and a lot of time in your pocket when coming to eat here. I promise it's worth it. He's usually open after 3! If you're short on time, I suggest you at the very least take some amazing homemade baklava home and, if you're in luck, maybe some basbousa (similar texture to a chewy granola bar, but made with semolina and honey) and bold Turkish coffee.
I saw the food truck for the first time at the Night Market in Green Bay (they've had 11 years of markets!) and eventually found the restaurant in Appleton. I discovered that Mr. Ezz, the owner, is the sole worker in the restaurant, and does everything -the cooking, cleaning, errand-running, attending the customers and waiting on them- himself. He is also one of the sweetest and attentive people I've met, and is passionate about sharing his culture and food with people. The food tastes so beautifully homemade and flavorful. While we waited, Mr. Ezz brought us some babaganoush -similar to hummus, but made with roasted eggplant instead of chickpeas-, and it was AMAZING. We also tried goullash -a filo dough stuffed with meat and spices-, meatballs in tomato sauce, and salmon in Egyptian spices accompanied with Egyptian seafood rice. Of course, we took some Turkish coffee and basbousa that he had just pulled out of the oven home (you're supposed to eat it when it's cooled, but I like it slightly warm!) Truly a work of love. Mr. Ezz also came over and told us a little about the meal we were having. He is very proud of his cooking.
Please give this amazing place a try and come in with an open mind. It might be a little bit of a wait, but it's very...
Read moreI was in search of a quick bite after some shopping and make an effort to support local/independent establishments. Egyptian Delights popped up as a “restaurant near me” so I decided to give it a try and was so glad I did!
The inside is unassuming with the owner greeting you as you walk in. I explained to him that I saw some menu items they had online and things I’ve had in the past. He was more than willing to suggest items I haven’t tried along with explanations of what they exactly were. I opted for his suggestion of the gollash, a phyllo dough filled with minced meat, cheese and Middle Eastern spices. It was BEYOND DELICIOUS. Super flavorful yet not over-seasoned. Phyllo dough was light yet filling. I also couldn’t resist talking some baklava home with me.
I hung out for a good while talking with the owner and his story behind the restaurant and how he uses his family’s recipes. It’s easy to feel the sincerity that goes into Egyptian Delights and the joy it brings him to share the food from his culture with the people. Will...
Read moreWe came here for a small dinner with friends, all of us got Turkish Coffee's, 2 black and 2 cream and sugar, as well as 2 Grape Leaves, and 1 Gollash.
The Gollash was wonderfully seasoned and paired well with the lettuce provided. The Grape leaves as my fiancé would say were 10 out of 10 and served hot which apparently is a much better method than most other places.
Our Black Turkish Coffees were delicious
Ez, the owner, cook, and server all in one was a nice gentleman and we loved listening to him and his experiences of how he started as well as his future prospect's! We hope he continues to do well and we will for sure be visiting more often.
*Note for future customers - everything is made from scratch and not everything on the menu will be available at all times so take advantage of going multiple days to enjoy his wonderful cuisine!
Thank you Ez for our Dinner and being...
