According to a medical doctor Mitchell Gaynor, “There’s no organ system in the body is not affected by sound, music and vibration.” With this in mind, I tried the wooden hammer therapy at Ann Karen Spa. I was first greeted by a group of professionals that were friendly and ready to provide relief to my body. I met Annie, a professional massage therapist who provides the wooden hammer therapy. She is kind and caring, providing explanation of what is done throughout the process. I learned so much about acupressure points and traditional Chinese medicine from her. Using a combination of a wooden stick and hammer, Annie works on my body and face. She rhythmically uses the wooden hammer to provide percussion as a form of therapy to relax and heal my body by clearing the stagnation in my tendons and muscles. During the treatment, I can feel the wave of relaxation and relief that my body was experiencing. The sound of the wooden hammer combined with the percussion across my body enhanced my circulation and realigned my body’s pathway. The wooden hammer created a wonderful melody but also a sensation of vibration that is felt throughout my body. I was the most surprised at the effect it had on my face. It instantly lifted my face and provide rejuvenation after the treatment. It is a treatment that is both sonic and bodily. This treatment combined manual pressure, stretching and the deep vibration and sound that is created by the wooden instrument. Annie explains that this form of massage is an ancient practice that enables life energy to flow throughout the body and therefore improving alignment.
On top of that, Ann Karen Spa was beautifully decorated with many relaxation spaces. They have a heated pool, a steam room, a Himalayan salt room, a mug room, and more. You can spend your entire day there and leave feeling refreshed and an entirely new person! I cannot recommend Ann Karen...
Read moreThings that I liked: accepting massage appointments currently during covid. Even for next day. Private tub suite Location, easy parking. Facilities clean, quiet, nice locker and shower area, with jacuzzi & steam rooms if open. Slippers and robes Tea
What I didn’t like: Website offerings are different then what is actually offered. I wanted to have a “custom bath” for a private tub suite i reserved and was told they did not do this. ?!
Customer service was a bit rude, maybe because I’m Asian. Not sure, but I felt questioned about my reservation numerous times. My appt was at 2:30, they were not prepared even though it seemed like there was no other patrons. Prices are not clear. Service was overpriced considering half their amenities weren’t available Before I paid I was pressured to give more gratuity. This was very offensive. Considering I’m a good tipper when deserved. They took my reservation it’s not my problem if they are over staffed and under booked. Inconsistent services I had a couples massage with a male friend, they used oil on him, I did not get any. Why is this? Strange signage “there is no complete privacy, subject to inspection by Arcadia police at any time” posted in the room?! I mean, what’s really going on here?! Regardless I don’t care, but I don’t want to read about it. Also it’s your establishment. Due to covid NO amenities jacuzzi, steam room and saunas are closed. Not even available on private basis.
This spa has great potential, it’s like an Asian owned Burke Williams. But it’s lacking in etiquette. Honestly after even writing this review I’m more bothered by the...
Read moreATTENTION Yesterday I got an alert from my chase bank that a $2000 charge was made on my card. I informed my bank that was a FRAUDULENT CHARGE. I called the establishment that made the charge ANN KAREN DAY SPA. I asked to speak with a manager or store owner. Someone, anyone in charge. I was told, "No." by the person that answered and then just hungup on. Im in an agitated state at this point. I trusted this place with my card information and this is the way they treat their customer's??? When I called to make the appointment I was told I had to book it with a card, so I provided one, and later paid cash at the end of my visit. This visit was back in May of 2023. Why my card was charged yesterday(1/8/2024) I don't know. So I called to inform this company to let them know something wrong is happening and that they should alert their other customers. I called back and asked again for the person in charge or store owner, I was told no, again. So before I was hungup on again I stated my issue and the receptionist just replied, "Oh, no. Our machine's don't do that." and she just kept repeating it. I was so frustrated by that point and just repeated myself again.... the discussions went no where as imagined. I decided this is what I could do to warn others of sharing sensitive information with this...
