Completed 5/27/23. From the campsite to summit is all snow, pretty dangerous in spots if you aren’t ready for it. Would recommend using extreme caution crossing the snow bridge on the creek next to the campsite these next few weeks as it starts to melt. very steep but the views are very worth it if you love the mountains. The fire watch up top was closed off when I was up there but it’s still cool. Bring tons of water and maybe some sunscreen for the top portion. Not too many views in the bottom portion of the hike and the way down is just as painful as the way up with how steep it is! I recommend this hike overall though. Be in shape or you will get in shape by...
Read moreWe did this hike on 7/2 and it was very steep for the first 3 miles then lets up just a little. While the trail is very strenuous, the first 4 miles were passable. There were some very nice views of the surrounding peaks around mile 1. After these views the next two miles were a grind through the forest, then there were pretty sneak peak views between the trees with diablo lake between mile 3.5 and 4. We hit snow banks that made the trail hard to follow and slippery at mile 4 before the stream crossing and turned there. The snow was packed and can be walked on, and was melting fast. There is some parking space right next to...
Read moreWe did this on 7/3 and there was still a bit of snow at the very top by the look out tower. This is a very strenuous hike but the trail is good. The views are after you cross Sourdough Creek about 2 mi ? in. So don't give up there! Once you cross the creek, the views open up and it really is something. Bucket list hike in the North Cascades but make sure you are up for a lot of uphill. Good thing is that the stiffness of the hike does cut down on the...
