Brown Center at Cowley College — Attraction in Arkansas City

This theater program is an absolute joke. They claim to want to be a professional theater and a destination location for college theater yet the cast the same 4 people in their lead roles. The director is completely unprofessional to his students and doesn’t care to see them grow as artists. They allow leads who cannot sing and would make the dogs howl all night long and then turn around and recast them again instead of allowing other students the chance at lead and supporting roles. As someone who has worked very closely with individuals in professional theater, and a devoted supporter of the arts, I can wholeheartedly state that you do not want to go to Cowley college of your goal is to work professionally in theater or acting. You will not get equal opportunities as the local residents and names with large local family influence in the town, their children will. The director will always play his favorites even if it’s not the best fit for the show. With the diversity in the world these days, who cares if the movie character was blonde hair, blue eyes and German? Cast the one who is stronger vocally and has the stronger acting ability.
