My granddaughter and I visited the Atascadero Zoo today and we had a wonderful time. All the improvements that have been made to the zoo have been great have been great. The new panda exhibit this is awesome with all of the natural bamboo and the Siberian tiger graced us with his voice and walked around so well could get pictures. The flamingo's as you come into the zoo where in full force talking away and strutting their wings. We were able to donate to the Australian charities along with getting a real nice stuffed animal at the gift shop Although many people don't like animals in cages I think that the Atascadero Zoo is doing an exceptional job and keeping all the animals cages clean so the animals can be as happy and cared for as can be. Read moreWe came to this zoo while we were on vacation in Pismo. We expected to see an abundante of animals. We were wrong. The entrance fee was $15 person. Which is pretty steep. Compared to other much larger zoos. Then when We entered it was literally maybe a row an a half of depressed small animals. The orangutans were restless. The tiger had just died. The Birds....super sad. They were molting.. pacing back and forth. The enclosures were super small. It was a super sad zoo. The disappointment I felt was wild. We spent $175 to see depressed dirty and malnourished animals. I even had to ask..maybe I missed a turn and the lady said nope that's it. We left. I will never ever go back. I hope this helps a family looking to do stuff on vacation to the coast. DO NOT GO HERE. YOU WILL BE SAD AND HAVE...

The other animals they have are great! But some are lonely and it's visible they need other companions such as the monkey they have. Besides that, the zoo is very well kept and the staff is very nice and answers questions about the animals with excellent experience which I appreciate. Also the lion water fountain is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and is filled with black and murky water making it...
