Many great features at this large shade and sun community park, including a beautiful Pavilion to hold community festivities, weddings, and private events overlooking the Lake/a small, fully accredited Charles Paddock Zoo/a ball field and a beautifully upgraded (with more play equipment) childrens' play area; several picnic/barbq areas, pathways, benches, and two rest room buildings, a covered grandstand and gazebo; a popular 1-mile pathway around the lake, with 2 exercise stations, a free library station with a table, doggy "pick up bags", benches, and tables, with people walking, jogging and bringing leashed dogs to exercise.

I enjoy writing so I felt like writing something I felt when I enjoyed my time here at the lake. As I sit on this stone bench, I felt ok here. The sun was setting and I watched people do “things” Being trapped at home brought a lot of pain.. So I came here after work. Watching family’s fish together, People communicating with/without masks. I saw people hanging out and smiling. And I felt like I’m ok. Being trapped at home is a personal choice, And now I’m here. At the lake watching birds. Watching the beautiful sky. Breathing this fresh air. We need to be out more, Don’t hold your self back.

I discovered this park by accident and I am very happy I did. I love everything about this park, I was thrilled when I saw different bird species, the lake is so beautiful and there is a paddle boats rental that I'm looking forward to try out in the near future since at the time was closed :( To me this is a dreamy park: It is very spacious and there is a little kiosk, bird sighting, there is even a little zoo near by. I really appreciate the fact that the park remains very clean and it is dog friendly. I'm sure locals are very happy to have this park in town.

Although ive almost never seen a maintenance person working here the place is always kept pretty well. I love taking my 3yo daughter here, I have many wonderful memories playing with her here or coloring together in the grass after a walk. It always feels safe and theres rarely any unsavory types lurking around, a problem many parks in the area suffer from. On Tuesdays the atascadero community marching band plays, they are always a treat. And the Saturday evenings in the park are never a disappointment. Its a fun family environment with exciting events and ample parking (if you dont mind a short walk). They do have bathrooms but they aren't the most inviting but at least they aren't portapotties or sketchy hobo hangouts. Over all I love this park, its been a huge part of my childhood growing up here and my daughters now too, I hope this park remains a staple of the area for years to come, its well...

So today we came to the Lake Park in Atascadero by the Charles Paddock zoo for my grandson's birthday. he turned 9 this week as did his best friend, Brody. We have had quite a nice day. It's a nice - litely breezy and cool day. Everybody is spread out around the park - plenty of room for those who are very conscious of the distancing protocols everyone knows to adhere to now. The park is in great shape: clean, green, & lots of sunbeams. The picnic tables are clean and well managed. I can say one and all come on down and enjoy every part of our green grassy open areas. The tables, the fresh air, the people in their groups having a good time here today. The sounds of real life, going on, continuing: as well it should and will; as if the pandemic was already past. The zoo animals are being very vocal today. Come down too hear the animals talking it up. Idealic and only a couple of miles out Hwy 41 W....

It's 1 part Park 1 part Lake and 1 part Zoo! The park, with it's new equipment and vibrant feel, is perched right in the middle of great family fun with the Atascadero lake on one side and Charles Paddock Zoo on the other. The Zoo is a wonderful hidden attraction who's small time feel makes for a great day trip and personal animal experience. You really get a close up view of these amazing animals. They do the birthday parties right next to the tiger enclosure! The kids loved it! Then there's the park which has huge bbq pits, that can be reserved, and first come first serve picnic areas with huge trees that shade the whole park. All this right next to the lake with paddle boat rentals, and lakeside breezes to make for some Cool California days. Lots of fun...
