Would give zero stars if I could. I came from North Carolina visiting Massachusetts, and wanted to take my kids to the zoo so my little one could see the animals. When I looked at the pictures, the place looked beautiful with a variety of different animals, a splash pad for my toddler, and cheap tickets. When we went, we left about 10 to 15 minutes later after arriving. There were around 12 animals, Lions, emu, alpaca, goats, red fox, 2 otters, a snake, and only a couple others i don’t remember the name for. When I looked at the website it stated that they had animals like zebra, rhinos, and other REGULAR zoo animals which as far as I saw was false advertisement. They have extremely small enclosures for the animals, even for the lions even though there is a male and a female inside. They also take care of their animals cheaply. Like for example when we went to go see a some type of tiny fox, they literally had coffee canisters with newspapers inside of them and the kong treat toys that are used for dogs inside their enclosure. They have a bunch of things closed and some have signs saying that more animals are supposedly coming soon. This is NOT a zoo. The zoo itself is also small too. I would try and get my money back if it wasn’t such a hassle. I DO NOT recommend this...
Read moreI was disappointed this time around. I was last there 5 years ago with children I babysat. This time I had my almost 4 year old twins. Need to know: -You can't bring in a cooler, or plastic straws. They supply paper straws. I can respect both rules, but not when they don't respect me. -I ordered food at 12:29, but did not receive my food until 1:24. That's almost an hour for my children to wait to eat (and I'm 32 weeks pregnant, with my snack "confiscated" at the gate/store. I was able to retrieve on departure). -The explanation they gave was that many people ordered the chicken fingers and fries, so they were waiting on them. While giving my order at the window, they could have told me the situation. -The chicken nuggets were small and the oil needed to be changed. -No apologies. -The bathrooms are small, and have not been updated in quite some time. It is loud and overwhelming to potty trainers and infants in need of a diaper change. -The exhibit spaces seem small for some of the animals. I'm comparing to other local zoos. The splash pad is fun for the kids. It is not a large Zoo with too much walking, just about right for preschoolers. = BE PREPARED for these...
Read moreIt's a cute little zoo that's great for kids with short attention spans or for parents who like animals but have kids who couldn't care less (my wife and son fall into that latter category). Kid doesn't want to spend all day looking at animals? In less than an hour you get your animal fix. Do you like meerkats? My friend, there are meerkats. And servals (not in the same habitat. That would probably end poorly). There are otters. Can't go wrong with otters. Monkeys live on an island in the middle of a pond (both adorable and probably in everyone's best interest). And the splash pad is my son's favorite place in the summer.
Reasonably priced.
Larger zoos may have more to offer, but when we go there, I wind up carrying carrying my exhausted, cranky boy out of there piggyback-style in 90+ degree weather. Ever walk with a limp 50 pound kid on your shoulders in sweltering heat for over a mile? 0/10 don't recommend. To be fair, I should have checked the weather forecast...
