What a gem of a place! Disguised as a rest stop from the looks but take the stop and enjoy the incredible beach and swim able waters as it’s close to an inlet. Not many places like this for swimming in Lake Superior. The beach is fun fun fun! There’s a bathroom and a picnic table. We stopped to cook some pancakes for breakfast.

A great place to spend a day on the beach. The AuTrain river meets up with Lake Superior. The river is a perfect swimming hole. Good for people of all ages. There is plenty of parking, ADA accessible pit toilets. The most unique thing about this spot is the bridge that you can jump from into the river.

Nice beach on Lake Superior. Easily accessible the beach is also connected with the outlet of the river. The water is generally shallow, though can be sometimes rough if there is a strong north wind. It’s a great place to stop and hang out!

A great place to spend a day on the beach. The AuTrain river meets up with Lake Superior. The river is a perfect swimming hole. Good for people of all ages. The adventures to the UP you can always see something different . I like you can visit the same place and find it has been updated and offers new and exciting things to do.

Now that everyone has to get creative to mask up and social distance you can still enjoy your self . You can get out on the water and move at your own pace.

Be safe , Be crative, and Be courteous to all you meet as we are getting threw this togeather. Hope...

We've been coming here for 30 years .... love it so much that we built a cabin 1/4 mile up the river and walk or kayak to the beach. I've been to Siesta Keys. Hawaii. My brother has spent many winters on Thai beaches. We all agree - Au Train is our favorite. I'm stunned that this beach isn't more recognized, but that's what makes it so special. ...

It is a beach. Water is warmer in the river. River flows out to Lake Superior. Gas Station & Store across M-28 is all there is. You might want to bring your own food and drinks. The beach is clean. Most visitors respect the beach and clean up after themselves. If you have little ones bring a bucket and shovel. You can make great...
