Delicious Denver Food Tours — Attraction in Aurora

The food tour I went on with Austin as the guide was great! This was my first time on a tour dedicated to food, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Austin's approach to the tour exceeded my expectations by far. He was extremely knowledgeable about not only the food that we ate, but he delivered interesting and informative commentary on the history of Denver and Colorado. I have been to Denver numerous times over the past 20-plus years and taken plenty of tours in and around the area, but this tour was undoubtedly one of my favorites. The only recommendation I have is to change up either the dessert stop or the dessert served at the current stop (Osteria Marco) that ends the tour. While the dish (mostarda) that was served on my tour was definitely interesting and unique, it would not be something I would choose again, and I heard a few others on my tour say the same thing, so I know I am not alone in that opinion, but I did hear two people on my tour say that they'd had the butterscotch bread pudding from this restaurant before and it was absolutely amazing, so perhaps just a change in the dish served would be all that is needed. (To the credit of Delicious Denver Food Tours, Austin told us that this was a last-minute substitution for their usual ending spot due to a scheduling conflict with the normal ending spot.) One of the best food walking tours I’ve done. Melissa our guide was fun, energetic and kept us entertained with the stories of each of the family owned businesses we visited. It was nice to become familiar with the downtown area with a local who could also give recommendations along the way. Melissa great guide We started Marco coal fire pizzeria - the pizza was delicious. I opted for the alcohol pairing so I also enjoyed a homemade limoncello. This pizzeria earned an AVPN certified from Napoli. Next we went to Lazo’s empanadas where we tried the ground beef empanada paired with a Malbec from Argentina I really enjoyed the pairing. Next we went to Biker Jim’s - here we tried a jalapeño and cheese Elk Dog topped with crème cheese & Coca-Cola onions it was very good! Anthony Bourdain reviewed the elk dog on episode No Reservations It was a nice leisurely walk from restaurant to restaurant and restroom stops at each location. Then we went to Kachina and tried the Texan Fry bread Taco paired with their award winning margarita. Our last stop was at Ultreia which is located in the Union Train Station. Chef Jennifer Jasinski and her partner Beth Gruitch received a James Beard Award. We tried a dessert there from a Portugal, Paste de nata and it was delicious I would highly recommend this tour!!
