Although this is one of the most beautiful locations in Denver to enjoy a summer sunset, BEWARE! The sign in the parking lot states that the park closes at sundown. Apparently the definition of sundown is whenever the city worker feels like going home and sees the sun touch the mountain range. Then the city worker will lock the gate and trap cars inside the parking lot. He will not answer his phone to come back and the city will not assist you either. Your car will be trapped till sunrise. Even though the Colorado sky is still illuminated and the beautiful sunset view from the park makes for incredible photography or peaceful moments, you will soon be facing the realization that you need to call for a ride home and risk possible vehicle break ins overnight. ย ย ย Read moreThis is a pretty good nature center. There is a lake with multiple trails that you can walk on. It is a frequent place for birders to bring their binoculars and bird watch. Some of the trails have good shade and others do not. So if youโre going in the summer make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen. I do wish there was a little more to see here and more of a center, like if they had a visitor center building were you could learn a little bit more about the wild life.
