Everyone talks about how beautiful Sekrit Theater is, but no one is mentioning the lack of respect and courtesy that is offered by the owner and staff. The owner allows 10+ people to book a time slot for photos in the venue so do not be surprised when you pay $185 to use the venue for engagement photos and can not capture a shot without someone in the background. The man I spoke with on the phone, the owner, was incredibly hostile toward me when I called the number provided to confirm my reservation after being screamed at by another photographer because they had a reservation also and did not care to share the space. The man told me that it was “people like you who will cause this place to be bulldozed and turned into condos because of the amount of complaining I hear regarding time slots.” He then proceeded to say that he does not care how much we paid to use his home for photos but he assured me that he wished he could have charged me more. He then continued to blame me for being part of the “problem” by wrecking his precious home for our own enjoyment and photo opportunities. After the very unpleasant and upsetting conversation with the owner on the phone, my fiancé and I preceded to make the most of what was suppose to be a special moment for us to look back on and share with our family and friends. Other photographers also occupying Sekrit Theater at the same time mentioned their own unpleasant conversations that they had with the owner upon arrival to the venue and assured us that they too would be leaving a one star review and would never return with clients. Overall, incredibly unprofessional and run down venue with little to offer. 10/10 do...
Read moreWe had our wedding at the Sekrit Theater and I am so glad we did! Cynthia was an amazing help, she was very responsive to all me emails and was there from start to finish for our big day! She really went above and beyond what a venue manager does and I am so grateful for her! The venue itself is so beautiful and unique, all of our guests talked about how "insta-worthy" it is! It was supposed to rain all day for our wedding but luckily Cynthia fit all of our dinner tables into the gazebo area and was there to re-light all my candlesticks when the wind blew them out! (So above and beyond!) If anyone is considering a beautiful outdoor venue for their wedding/event/photoshoot this is the spot for sure! A hidden gem in the heart of East Austin, created by the owner Beau! He built a lovley greenhouse where we had our ceremony, the dance floor has a huge disco ball perfect for getting your groove on and the flower wall/giant moon/school buss/drive in movie screen were amazing touches to make this venue so whimsical and unique! Thank you Sekrit Theater for making our wedding...
Read moreUPDATE: Someone finally reached out and was unapologetic and blamed me for emailing the wrong email? Haha okay! If you can get past dealing with rude people the place is nice for photos. Be sure to take suncreen and bug spray! Also do not use the email on the invoice, nobody watches that one apparently. Go support local business! Peace! I also wish I could give 0 stars. I have tried to get ahold of someone on getting a refund or rescheduling, but nobody will contact me. I sent an email and the next day I received an email just saying my appointment was canceled. I know we are going through COVID, but you need to reach out to people who have paid you. Now I'm out 200 bucks and I still haven't heard from anyone. My engagement photos were supposed to have been taken over a month ago. I honestly just want my money back because of the neglect to respond to me. I hate to have to file a claim in court, but I'll probably have to because I can't get...
