Shirlington Dog Park is an absolute paradise for both dogs and their owners. This spacious and well-maintained park offers a fantastic environment for our furry friends to play, socialize, and enjoy the great outdoors.

One of the highlights of Shirlington Dog Park is its size. The park provides ample room for dogs to roam and explore. The fenced-in areas ensure their safety while allowing them to run freely and burn off energy. It's a joy to see dogs of all sizes happily sprinting, chasing balls, and engaging in friendly play with other four-legged companions.

The park's layout is well thought out, with separate sections for small and large dogs. This division promotes a safe and harmonious environment for all pets, ensuring that smaller dogs can play without feeling overwhelmed. The attention to detail in creating designated areas for different dog sizes showcases the park's commitment to inclusivity.

The cleanliness and maintenance of Shirlington Dog Park are impressive. The park is regularly cleaned and kept tidy, providing a hygienic space for our pets to enjoy. Waste stations are conveniently placed throughout the park, encouraging responsible pet ownership and making it easy for owners to clean up after their furry friends.

The sense of community at Shirlington Dog Park is wonderful. Dog owners and enthusiasts gather here, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It's a great opportunity to meet fellow dog lovers, exchange stories, and share tips and advice. The park fosters a sense of camaraderie among dog owners, making visits to the park not only enjoyable for our pets but also a social experience for us.

Shirlington Dog Park's location is also advantageous. It is nestled in a vibrant area with access to nearby amenities such as pet-friendly restaurants and shops. After a fun-filled playtime, it's convenient to grab a bite to eat or enjoy a leisurely stroll in the surrounding neighborhood.

The park's staff and volunteers deserve recognition for their dedication and commitment. They play a vital role in maintaining the park's cleanliness and ensuring the safety and well-being of all the dogs. Their presence and attentiveness contribute to an overall positive experience at...

I really enjoyed coming here while I was on vacation here in the DMV area from late May to mid-August. Ever since I got my first DSLR camera, I wanted to look for a dog park to go to, and this was my first choice. There's so many dogs here and 99% are super friendly! Every time I came here, I would bring my camera and some doggy treats so that I can get some great shots of the dogs. Lol but when I try to get the attention of one dog, I have like five dogs running up to me. I love how there's a smaller, fenced in part of the park for the smaller dogs. And the river is great too! I heard that the water is dirty or something, but the dogs really enjoy playing in the water. A few fights have erupted here and there, but I wouldn't say that it's a major problem. Some owners don't pick up their dog's poop, and that can be a problem for many who don't want poop on their shoes. One thing I wish this park could change is the pathway to the river towards the back entrance of the park, the one that's by the storage place. I found it quite difficult to walk down to the river and to walk back up. There should be some type of stairs there to make the decent much easier for the owners when they want to walk down to the river. The pathway to the river towards the front entrance is much easier to descend upon. I really like how the stairs are made of stone. Although they are kinda steep, it still makes it easier to walk down and up. I can't wait to return to this...

Beautiful, well-maintained, fenced-in, large and small, dog parks. There is a beautiful trail winding through the larger dog area and there are multiple access gates between the two separate areas. Everyone I have interacted with has been very friendly. Great community so far. There are benches and picnic tables within both areas, as well as fresh water and bowls provided. There are plenty of trees, as well as a creek running along the edge of the fenced-in large dog area. Feels like you're in a little forest, a secret escape, hidden next to tall buildings and other downtown city features. There's also a lovely, long paved trail outside of the park, leading to sports fields, plain grassy fields, a baseball field, basketball courts, and a pretty big children's playground. The public restrooms are nicely maintained. They are hard to find as they are located past the bridge on the right and the baseball field on the left, between the field and the playground - outside of the dog parks. It's a permanent structure, looks like a modern square building. Love the bright blue indoor dog park and bar, with live music, and second floor balcony, right next door to the outdoor dog parks. Overall great outdoor and social areas. Perfect place to bring your doggies. The only thing that sucks is the parking. There isn't much parking, right next to the dog parks, and it's only 2hr or paid parking. There is more parking, elsewhere alongside the rest of...

I went to this dog park for the first time and absolutely loved it! It was for a bulldog meetup and what a fun time. Here are things to keep in mind: 1. The park is looooong. Like I mean, you can't see the end from the entrance. If you let your dog go without watching them- you might not be able to find them right away. 2. There are many benches throughout the park. You can definitely find a seat. They also have a picnic bench there as well. 3. They have a small caged off section for small dogs, so don't be worried if you have a smaller dog! 4. They have water fountains there so no need to bring your own water unless you don't want them to share in the communal water bowl. 5. They have various rope toys laying around, but not many. There weren't many other toys than that from what I could tell. 5. Limited parking in the parking lot, but a lot of people found street parking so it wasn't a huge deal. 6. They have doggy bags and giant trash cans for you to dispose of them with. 7. There isn't much shade. They have trees along the park, but no direct shade in the middle of the park. 8. There is a pathway to walk that runs in the middle of the park which was nice. There were muddy spots and spots covered with pebbles as well.

Opie and I had a fantastic time at Shirlington Dog Park! This is one of the best off-leash parks in Arlington, VA, offering plenty of space for dogs to run, play, and socialize. The fenced area is well-maintained, with shaded spots and benches for owners to relax while keeping an eye on their pups. What I love most about this park is the separate small dog area and the easy access to a creek where dogs can cool off. The environment is dog-friendly and well-monitored, making it a great place for both training and socialization. As a professional dog trainer in Arlington, VA, I highly recommend this park for owners looking to work on off-leash recall, social skills, and confidence-building in a controlled setting. Opie had a blast, and we will definitely be back! #ArlingtonDogParks #DogPrincipal #RealityBasedDogTraining
