Even though it was mid-march there had been an extremely hard freeze so there was actually quite a bit of ice right near the shore in the harbor which is kind of cool. The water itself is amazingly Crystal clear usually what I would expect to see in the Caribbean. I think the main reason for that was simply that the nutrients that you usually find in the North Atlantic I think are have to have a little bit of warmth in the water and obviously this is still mid Winter cold water but the clarity was amazing. You could easily see 50 to 60 ft down. There's one could imagine at that time of year it was pretty much very very quiet there were only two eateries basically open in town.
