TLDR upfront: Cafe This Way was our favorite food place in Bar Harbor over the course of a 4-day Acadia trip. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional, absolutely a must-visit stop for any future visits!
We ordered: Build-your-own omelet with some veggies and goat cheese - I'm not usually a fan of omelets but the goat cheese was really good, would get this again
White bean shakshuka - Incredibly flavorful, poached eggs were cooked to perfection, probably my favorite dish we had in Bar Harbor
Blueberry pancake - The pancake is relatively thin, absolutely stuffed with blueberries, and a little crispy around the edges. I've never had a pancake like this one before but regular ones just won't hit the spot anymore. They served it with house strawberry jam that was delicious and paired perfectly with the pancake as the pancake was not too sweet. 100% would recommend this as the best blueberry pancake in Bar Harbor if you like the crispier texture!
Hot chocolate - Excellent hot chocolate, whipped cream was great, no notes
The staff were all really friendly and attentive, we didn't have to wait long for food even though they were fairly busy, vibes were absolutely immaculate.
Prices are about average for Bar Harbor.
Only regret is that we didn't get to go back in favor of trying out other breakfast spots around Bar Harbor. While there are some good ones, none of the other places we ate at wowed me like Cafe This Way....
Read moreWe arrived at 11:30am and did not have to wait for seating on a Tuesday in July. They have indoor and outdoor seating and we chose first available. Service was fast and the staff was very attentive and friendly.
My daughter had the CWT fried bacon and bagel sandwich, we tried the peach pancakes, my husband had a scramble with sourdough toast, and I had a scramble with gluten-free toast. We also ordered a vanilla latte, a milk, and an orange juice.
The scrambles are good, but they add up once you add all of the meat and vegetables and become a little bit pricey. The drinks are a bit expensive as well and we ended up spending $81 plus tip on breakfast!
The sourdough toast is good and I thought the gluten-free toast was excellent. It was light and fluffy and not chewy. Gluten-free bread can be hit or miss and this was really good gluten-free bread and would probably make great French toast, but I did not try the French toast.
The orange juice was good and the milk was good and cold. My daughter enjoyed her bacon, egg and cheese bagel and my scramble was excellent and a very large portion.
The big hit of the day was the peach pancakes. We ordered those to share and that plate is empty. The pancake texture and flavor were excellent. They have real whipped butter available, and the syrup was really good.
We had an excellent experience and the food was delicious so here so will come back again during our short visit...
Read moreA dependable breakfast that flirts with the fantastic. Critical feedback- poached eggs on my Benedict were jammy, not runny, but my guest’s were runny, though in all fairness I didn’t specify a cook temp on the eggs, nor was I prompted for one. English Muffin had not been toasted or griddled. Corned beef hash was highlighted- my side had a lot of potatoes and the corned beef appeared to have been run through a meat grinder. IMO it’d be so much better if it was pulled and left as is. Home fries were of the diced, pre-blanched variety thrown in the fryer. Fine, but nothing to write home about. If there’s not room on the flat top to accommodate crispy hash browns and these have to come out of deep fryer this’d be a fantastic opportunity to highlight Maine’s amazing potatoes. On an unrelated rant- why do we put micro greens on everything when they are in no way connected with the contents of the dish? Lose the micros and save your food cost- sink the savings into employee health benefits or cycle back to those Maine potatoes.
