This was the first dinner we had in Bar Harbor and it was an amazing experience. Despite there being a long line outside, we were able to get in within 30 minutes.
-- We sat upstairs and it gave us a sweet view of the harbor and all the huge yachts parked nearby. -- We got lots of seafood since we can't get any fresh where we live. Crab cakes, steamed mussels and the downeast special. -- My husband LOVED the mussels and the downeast special. He raved about that meal for a couple days. He had never eaten a whole lobster before, but really enjoyed the process. -- I made the mistake of ordering something they probably don't specialize in. Pasta sounded good so I got the chicken parm...I'll be honest it was pretty bad. We both tried it and the flavor was bad and the sauce really slid right off the noodles as you were getting them on your fork. That 'L' is on me. -- At the end of dinner something crazy happened. Now, you don't know me so this won't be anything wild to you, but I hate pie. Like really really don't like warm fruit pies. BUT! I tried their blueberry pie all the same and it was AMAZING! I have never eaten a pie I have liked...until this day. It was one of the best desserts I've ever had. We have not stopped talking about it and it's been days since we had it. I'll be thinking about it for months honestly --- just get the pie. -- Our waiter was really nice, we chatted to him about where he was from because we picked up a cool accent. He was super friendly and fun to talk about where he was from before he moved...
Read moreI can’t even begin to express my disappointment with this place. I’ve been here twice, and the contrast between the two visits was infuriating.
The first time around, everything was fantastic – the food, the service, all of it. It set the bar high, and I expected nothing less on my second visit.
But what a disaster that turned out to be! It was a quiet weekday, and yet our server vanished after taking our order, only to resurface 35 agonizing minutes later with cold appetizers. Seriously, how in the world can soup and steamed mussels take that long, especially when the place wasn’t even half full?
The real kicker? Our main courses arrived a mind-boggling 40 minutes after the appetizers, and let me tell you, my $38 lobster pasta was an absolute travesty. It was dried up and chilling on top. Even the other dishes on our table were barely lukewarm.
And what’s worse? Our server seemed more interested in yapping away at another table than bothering with us. Overhearing her comment about how busy weekends left her with no time to talk, while she had all the time in the world during our miserable visit, was infuriating. She actually said, “During the weekend it’s so busy I don’t have time to talk to anyone. But today, I got plenty of time to talk to you guys.”
I couldn’t be more furious with this place. Save your money and sanity – steer clear of this restaurant. Slow service, cold food, and zero regard for customers seem to be...
Read moreWent here our first night in Bar Harbor. It was nice to be able to get a table here. We were looking for a place to eat and stopped by this place and asked it they had any tables available and they told us there was an hour and 15 min wait for a table. We decided to wait and they took our phone number to text us when a table was available. This was nice so we could wander downtown Bar Harbor while we waited for our table. After 50 mins they texted us to let us know they had a table come available. We were happy about getting a table sooner that expected. Our Waitress seemed new and inexperienced. She forgot my wife's drink order and it was hard to find her to let her know. She did offer some good advice on what to order and told us what she would recommend. I took her up on one of her recommendations and enjoyed her recommendation. My daughter on the other hand ordered the vegetarian spaghetti and I must say it was really bland and had not real taste. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said that was how the dish was and didn't offer us any other choice but to just accept it and eat it versus saying she could take it back to the chef to see if they could do anything about it. Considering you don't like your dish this didn't seem like the right course of action. So sadly you all get an average score and maybe it should be a 2 star rating because you dropped the ball with my wife's drink and my...
