As part of the Erie Canal Towpath trailhead, this junction offers you an easy starting point. If you are heading northward you will encounter a rough visual start with a scrapyard to your right and a a stretch of industrial buildings and trains to your left (pictures below are not of these areas). But once past it turns to residential backyards and city streets. On the positive side there is plenty of wild life to see including, geese, cranes, beavers and turtles (pictured).
While not a terrible trail, there are far better ones on the towpath , specifically one in the CVNP territory. I recommend the Brandywine trailhead.
