If I could give 4 1/2 stars I would but because I can't, this is why I give 4. This park is great, I spend 1-2 hours here nearly every day. I go here because it's very close to campus, where I live. It's not nearly as big as the Burbank dog park & it doesn't have a small/large dog separation but I have only ever had a few issues with the varied dog sizes (most of the time it has been the owner's fault bringing a dog younger than the rule required limits). There have been a few issues with small holes in the gates where smaller dogs have gotten out & having the children's playground right next to the dog park has resulted in unsafe/uncomfortable events where children are unattended in the park. I've only had an issue with these things a handful of times but for an honest review, I feel necessary mentioning it. The times I have met the park employees taking care of the dog park have always been great, very nice people. It's not as 'nice' as other parks because of the size but my dog loves it, it is in a great location for those near campus or downtown & there is a lot of regulars here that are very good people...

Also notable are the gargantuan oak trees scattered around the park which provide visual interest and the oh so valuable shade in the warmer months -- all twelve of them. Yes, we could name other parks with elevation, but here we'll find rolling hills, a small step above the simple slopes of Highland Road Park, for example.
It's one of few parks to offer golf, and also has a strong set of tennis courts. If you want to throw the frisbee with your pupper, the Raising Cane's dog park is also on the same site. The recently completed children's museum down the road makes it easier to make an entire day out of this area.
I've spent most of my time passing through this park while running, where I definitely appreciate the stretch of dedicated biking and jogging lanes that continue all the way through LSU campus. Most recently however, I was here as a photographer. It's easy to say there's something for...
Read moreMet some amazing people it was nice to meet someone new and friendly. My daughter doesn't have many children to play with and has had a tough time recently with a huge loss in our family and the children were patient with her and allowed her to play with them I love that so much it makes a mommas heart smile. She need that fun and childhood laughter. I hope the other children got as much as she did out of their meeting. The park is absolutely beautiful and well kept and we will return. I love how nice everyone was and all the parents were watching out for each others babies that's a community to...
