Basket Flat Ranch — Attraction in Battle Ground

I've been purchasing a quarter beef annually from Jon since 2014. I had previously bought beef from another farmer in central WA, and it was very gamey and tough. I thought that's what grass fed beef must taste like, and unfortunately a lot of it ended up being thrown out after sitting in the freezer for a few years. I decided to try again, with Jon, and was amazed. Jon was so pleasant to work with and has always answered all of my questions. I've always opted for a 'larger' quarter, and the meat has been so tender, marbled and had great flavor. I will admit that this year I asked for a 'smaller' quarter, and the meat is different, lacking the fat we love. Makes sense really. Well I spoke to Jon about it, and he said if I just put a note in the order that I'd like a fattier beef, he'll make sure he chooses accordingly. What more...

Fantastic. Jon is very personable and great to work with. The quality of the beef out of his cattle is excellent. Most people who say "they don't like it" don't understand the difference in what it means to have fully grass fed beef. This is not the fault of the rancher! You are getting higher quality meat and an excellent price and you should age your beef properly if you are not a fan of grass fed meat.

This is the third year I’ve purchased beef from basket flat ranch and their beef is the best of the best! I worked in the restaurant industry,steak and seafood for 13 years and worked with many butchers and this is by far the best beef I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy cooking and eating.
